I'm familiar with that feature and I have it switched off. It's redundant and outdated - for the time and effort of going to the email, signing in and sorting through, it's simply easier to just come here and look around (even without signing in).
What I'm talking about is a notification that goes directly to the smartphone itself - a signal/sound with a beam-in icon.
That way (for example) you hear a "beep" (or what ever assigned tone) and an icon about this Shout Message.
"BA1 has just shouted you."
Click on the banner and poof, here you are.

Something like that anyway.

The first two sections under General Account Settings should be turned on for you to get emails when things happen on posts that you're subscribed to.

It would be neat to be able to follow other users so you get notifications when they add new posts, but that part doesn't exist yet.

Was wondering....
You Tube connects directly with my phone due to Google. Hence, any person I am subscribed to who uploads a video, sends me a signal...
Can we have the same?
If say someone makes a remark on our Post or a Post that we left a remark on?
(Hope I haven't explained it too badly)

Hey Big Al! So sorry- Life has been absolutely wild. Still- don't know how I missed this because I usually check in anonymously to see if I missed any shouts. ๐Ÿ˜„

The JPEG was the original formatting from the site that I could find- I let it just be as it is! I'm not against an update to HelpBot, but do think he should have minimal animation and flashiness. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'll turn my notifications back on here for shouts so I can actually see these. ๐Ÿ˜…

So, I did a final draft of Helpbot as an animated GIF.
Guess that all I'll say about it. Hope you drop in for a visit soon (of course, I don't think you've missed much around here- lol!)

So....I went to the github open source site and found the Help-bot Avatar.
It 256X256 pixels and it also seems to be a JPEG (which seems strange because most interactive images are usually GIF or PNG's).
Anyway, I've been back at my computer after a year of being away and I decided to redraft the Help-bot image with the hopes that if you like it, you would use it in place of old image.
Not to worry, he's still square and largely the same.

The trouble is, the image hosting site I use, has folded shop - (Tiny Pic is down! Grab it fast! Lol!)

So, if you text me at 1-907-414-9533, I will send a copy directly to you, with no expectation.

Hm. Itโ€™s doable for sure.
My biggest hold up would be โ€œprivacyโ€. Not sure how many users would be stoked knowing that all of the pages they are on are visible to any onlooker.

So my thought/idea/question goes to this effect -

Is it possible to make a "member tracker?"

For example: let's say you're reading a Post or visiting a Shout Box. I see that you are On Line (green light) - is there some sort of algorithm that can tell me where you are at if I hover the cursor over the green light or other given icon?

The hour glass is based on the actual day you created your account. The โ€œ1 year agoโ€ for how long you signed up is just based on time like โ€œ217,728,000 seconds agoโ€ is one year. So not quite exact. Doesnโ€™t account for month offsets, leap days, etc etc.

Looked into it a bit more, and the part that calculates when you joined (1 year, 5 days ago) is a different calculation than the one that gives you the hour glass. ๐Ÿ˜…
