Hi everybody! I'm Rocco- and I'm the developer who built Help-QA. I'd love to hear how you're liking the place, so feel free to drop me a shout any time!
All of the code for this site is hosted open-source with ❤ on Github:

Where did you grow up?
Where do you live now?
What is the highest level of education you have attained?
High school, some college. Dropped out and taught myself to code. Doing pretty well now. 👍
What subjects did/do you enjoy most at school?
Pretty much everything! I love learning.
What's your favorite sport or sports?
I'm an injured Free Runner. (I do Parkour and FreeRunning) I also enjoy normal running, but I don't have an interest in competitive/team sports.
What kind of jobs have you held? Industries too!
Been a mechanic at a bowling alley and a programmer for most of my working history.
Before that, I was a coach at a gym for parkour and gymnastics.
What hobbies are you into?
I write code, I hang out with my family, and I enjoy life!
I also like to go bowling, golfing, and jump on the trampoline!
What causes are you concerned about today?
Simply the over-dramatics that people are in, and their tendency to over-exaggerate issues they come across.

Michael is the kind of guy you love to hate.written () ago
He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say.
You’re all very kind. 😊
I’ll see what I can do to get a donate button added soon! I’ve been more pre occupied with more important features and making the site a more pleasant experience (like fixing that silly link preview) but a donate button should be pretty quick and easy. I’ll toss it up tonight after work!
Thank you everyone. 🙏- written - voted for by PepperJ, Evansent, Pixels, ProffVampy
I joined around 06/07, I believe. Hard to remember. Help got me through so many things, and honestly- the biggest help was the community here just being friendly and accepting, more than just answering my posts when I needed help. The friends and memories I made here will stick with me forever. :)
Although I've never met anybody from Help in real life (Except 1, but I knew her in person before she joined so it doesn't count) I still consider them true friends of mine who I owe my life to. Those are the ones that got me motivated to take this project on.
I plan to keep this up as long as possible, but it's a community driven site. The old Help was around for nearly 10 years before many of us found it (Except Ralph. He's been around since forever, apparently)- which just goes to show that it may take some time before there is a constant stream of users that are finding us and posting.
To keep the site alive, the best thing we can all do is stick around as long as we can and help each and every person that comes to our doorstep. If we can maintain that great community, Help will survive.- written - voted for by smiley, Mya, Ambereyes, ProffVampy
Sounds like either a panic attack or malnourishment. Get some food, get some sugar, calm down however you've found best to do so. Then time to make some phone calls. 🙂- written
No- he is manipulating you. You're not in the wrong at all. Not just that, but this is a common scamming tactic. You are being controlled and you need to get out. Now.
Show the police the messages- they'll be able to identify it quickly. They won't think you're crazy. They understand that mistakes can happen and that's okay. You will not be held responsible for this. They will be glad you came to them rather than continuing down this road.
This sounds like a dangerous man. The sooner you get out, the better.
As soon as Paypal or any kind of cypto is mentioned, that's a big red flag in my book.
It may be a pain, but you may need to close your bank account- but I would ask the police what they recommend in that regard. It may not be necessary. They have seen this type of thing before and they will know how to respond.
Does the suicide prevention bot just spam everyone now or does it know me
HelpBot looks for keywords in your message, specifically things like "depressed" will trigger him. Could have been sulk or something similar as well.
It's good to see you @Nevermind. I'm sorry to hear you're going through this, but I'm glad you came! I think you should try to get a hold of your therapist even just for a quick call. They'll understand. Life can get crazy and stack up. Don't worry about being a burden- those are the feelings they're trying to help you get over.- written
I don't really do them- If I'm going to make a change I'm going to make it when I need it rather than wait for the new year to start...
However, I do tend to avoid going to gyms for the first 2-3 months of each year to avoid the crazy resolutioners. 😅- written
Safe here! Been exposed a couple of times, but never caught it. A few family members have caught and kicked it (Including my 85 year old grandpa!) so we're doing pretty well!
Hope things are going well for you too. Happy Holidays!- written
I'd say join a writing group. Somewhere you have a few peers that just talk about writing in general. About things you're stuck on or struggling with. I'm sure there are free lectures from other authors you can listen to that would be similar to doing a college course.
Past that- I have to say, we are all our own worst critics. You'll always be able to see your mistakes and see where things aren't quite the way you want them. Somebody that doesn't know exactly what you WANTED to say can see what you DID say, and they will think you did so intentionally. They'll assume you're the expert and will assume your work is quality. Even other authors, as they probably suffer from the same thing.
Finally, when it comes to getting out what you want to say- that's always been a place I struggle as well. I tend to write and rewrite things time and time again. Edit over and over again, and I'm not even a writer!
Don't be afraid to come back later. Don't be afraid to rewrite what you had. Don't be afraid to delete it all! The story can still be there as history. Your characters might have done what you wrote in the past, and it never has to have physical words describing it because you, the author, know it happened even if you can't quite get it down. This can still affect the current events and allude to a mystery behind the story that readers can imaginatively fill in or give them food for thought that will leave them wondering each night.
