Hi everybody! I'm Rocco- and I'm the developer who built Help-QA. I'd love to hear how you're liking the place, so feel free to drop me a shout any time!
All of the code for this site is hosted open-source with ❤ on Github:
Want to help maintain the site? We have a Donate page!
Have a feature request? I want to hear about it! Send me a shout!
If you'd like to contact me directly for any reason, my email is email@example.com
Where did you grow up?
Where do you live now?
What is the highest level of education you have attained?
High school, some college. Dropped out and taught myself to code. Doing pretty well now. 👍
What subjects did/do you enjoy most at school?
Pretty much everything! I love learning.
What's your favorite sport or sports?
I'm an injured Free Runner. (I do Parkour and FreeRunning) I also enjoy normal running, but I don't have an interest in competitive/team sports.
What kind of jobs have you held? Industries too!
Been a mechanic at a bowling alley and a programmer for most of my working history.
Before that, I was a coach at a gym for parkour and gymnastics.
What hobbies are you into?
I write code, I hang out with my family, and I enjoy life!
I also like to go bowling, golfing, and jump on the trampoline!
What causes are you concerned about today?
Simply the over-dramatics that people are in, and their tendency to over-exaggerate issues they come across.

Michael is the kind of guy you love to hate.written () ago
He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say.
You’re all very kind. 😊
I’ll see what I can do to get a donate button added soon! I’ve been more pre occupied with more important features and making the site a more pleasant experience (like fixing that silly link preview) but a donate button should be pretty quick and easy. I’ll toss it up tonight after work!
Thank you everyone. 🙏- written - voted for by PepperJ, Evansent, Pixels, ProffVampy
I joined around 06/07, I believe. Hard to remember. Help got me through so many things, and honestly- the biggest help was the community here just being friendly and accepting, more than just answering my posts when I needed help. The friends and memories I made here will stick with me forever. :)
Although I've never met anybody from Help in real life (Except 1, but I knew her in person before she joined so it doesn't count) I still consider them true friends of mine who I owe my life to. Those are the ones that got me motivated to take this project on.
I plan to keep this up as long as possible, but it's a community driven site. The old Help was around for nearly 10 years before many of us found it (Except Ralph. He's been around since forever, apparently)- which just goes to show that it may take some time before there is a constant stream of users that are finding us and posting.
To keep the site alive, the best thing we can all do is stick around as long as we can and help each and every person that comes to our doorstep. If we can maintain that great community, Help will survive.- written - voted for by smiley, Mya, Ambereyes, ProffVampy
Yeah...I haven't been able to get into Reddit much. I have a very low tolerance for BS and trolling.
Right- like I said, there's quite a bit you have to dig through before you get anywhere. But once you find good ones, you're pretty good. 👍- written
It may be cliche, but Reddit is a great resource. If you find the right groups to follow- you can get some really incredible content there.
Unfortunately there is a lot of rubbish you also have to sort through. 😅
Ryan? After this site popped up he kind of faded away. We managed to pry the old site's data from him, so that's hosted over on the archives now. Haven't heard from him since. 🤷♂️- written
2 main options:
1) Advertising -
1a) Google Advertising - We pay Google to stick us at the top of the search results (Next to an
Ad word- Google a popular word and look at the top few results- notice that they're ads rather than "natural" results.)
1b) Sideline Ads - Think Facebook/Reddit columns. Differs from Google Ads in that payment structure is a bit different and this is more broad.
2) Word of mouth
2a) Tell people in person - This can be telling your friends, people on the street, handing out flyers, etc.
2b) Word of "fingers" - Basically word of mouth, but digitally. 😄 So this could be posting on Facebook, Reddit, StackOverflow, etc.
Both have downsides:
Option 1 costs money.
Option 2 requires users "giving away" their "safe place".
While option 2 is MUCH more likely to get "friendly" faces that stick around, it's also more difficult because many users say things on this site that they're only comfortable saying knowing that friends and family/ "real life" people won't find.
Also, like Dani sort of said- there are many other resources out there for people to find help. The internet is a busy place. 😅- written
As long as it’s not a money draw or something along those lines, seems fine to me!- written
