Places to see in United States?

I'm planning to take a driving tour across the United States. Most of my destinations are out west: Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Pacific Ocean. What are some fun nature things to see especially in the Midwest or South. I'll be driving with family in the early summer, hopefully for 2-3 weeks.

Well, niagara falls is in the northeast.

Florida and louisiana have some nice swamps if you're into that.

I think some of the great lakes are partly in midwest.

Great resource is if you go to your local library and get a travel guide for specific state after looking at a map.

I went out west one time and stopped at a few places. Gateway Arch in St. Louis is pretty cool, like a carnival ride and it's the gateway to the west. Mt. Rushmore is worth a stop, although it's just a big carved mountain with a bunch of prairie dogs hanging out. I had never seen a prairie dog before though, so that was about the most interesting thing about the place. Then if you're in South Dakota you might as well mosey on over to Deadwood or one of those old wild west towns. They're a big attraction. I remember being in the bar where Wild Bill Hickock was shot.

Yeah there's lots to do if you have time and money to just cruise around.... funny how I literally had practically NO money when I was taking trips like this but I also had NO responsibilities or other people helping me spend what I make. Other people's money spends really fast it appears, don't know I've never really had the opportunity to find out but my wife is an expert at it.

Oh yeah go to Niagara Falls it's really cool. Plus it's on the Canadian border and Canada is pretty cool too. I drove all the way out west through Canada one time and it was better than the trip through 'Merika. Lake Louis and Banff National Forest stick out in my mind. Well I probably remember that place as being so special because I met someone there that was special...
