Have you ever liked someone until you seen their social media?

I’m not going to lie, I have the biggest crush on this guy. I have for the past year. I thought he was this sweet, wholesome, great guy but boy I was wrong. I ended up finding his Facebook page and tonight I was scrolling through it. Well, I ended up going all the way back a few years and omg he has the dirtiest mouth on him. Not saying that’s a bad thing. What’s bad is how he spoke to women and what he said about women. I’m not going to lie, I was a bit disgusted and I’m disappointed. I really am. I guess you do learn a lot about people by social media. I kinda wish in a way I didn’t look but I guess I should be glad that I did. Has this ever happened to you?

My experience was quite the opposite.
People invest their character into social media as if they are superstars - which is fine, but....
....some people find it hard to come out of character when it's time to get back into the land of flesh and blood (aka, real reality).
You can only learn so much that is true about a person from social media - people "pad" their identity or attempt to escape it altogether. Very few people are genuinely consistent with who they are between reality and social media.
My advice; get to know them in reality.

To paraphrase a noteable quote:
"Before accusing someone of having a splinter in their eye, remove the log that is embedded in your own."

Social media is where some people play out who they want to be.

If he's quite young (and stupid) he might have been going for "edgy". But it's best to err on the side of caution and assume all negative traits are genuine.
