That's what I was thinking as well. Also lack of sleep and dehydration may cause it.

Also, are you an eye rubber?
It's possible to rub your eyes black.

Not an eye rubber

I wonder if it could be stress bursting vessels in the eye?

Stress in my life right now is pretty insignificant

he prolly punched you in your sleep. lol

I've been punched, hit and kicked in my sleep. By husb flinging his arm around or by wayward toddlers/children. It wakes me up if its gonna leave a mark ๐Ÿ˜„

This is weird. Day before yesterday, my eye ached.... like a sty in my eye kind of ache. Not a big deal.

Yesterday, it still ached and husb said (midday) that it was getting red and swollen.

By bedtime, it was black, purple and swollen and hurt

So it was extremely slow in developing

Maybe it's just fragile skin as I'm getting older.

No other symptoms, so I will just wait for it to go away and wear ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Advice for an educator-in-training?

Love the kids, not the paycheck. I'm sure that goes without being said....but it doesn't, really. I've seen so many teachers do it for the paycheck and retirement and other benefits (which baffles me, because they really don't make that much money); and have treated the kids like crap.

Listen to your kids in the classroom. Make sure that you go slow enough for them ALL to "get" what you are teaching; yet have some more advanced work available for those who have already comprehended the lesson(s)

Give them plenty of time to run, fidget, and talk. Younger kids really need outside time and time to be noisy and fidgety. And that "should be" okay. Older kids need someone to talk to. Give them that time

Self-grieving and poisoning thoughts.

I know how you feel too. As a woman who is getting older and has been out of the job market for 17 years, I feel as if I am sort of useless most of the time.

But I'm sure you aren't! You talked about having friends! One of the things you need to remember about friends, is that during that first few months of nurturing the friendship, you have to be the giver in the relationship. You have to compliment your friends and be there for them...because everyone these days tends to put "friends" on the "back burner" with all we have going on in our lives. So you make sure that you stay relevant and up front with them. And the relationship will grow and get strong and you won't need to do that anymore. OR...you will find out that the person is someone you would just as soon not be friends with in the first place

BTW, when is your bday? Mine is Dec 21 and it really is awful having a bday during "the holidays." Now that I'm an oldie, I'm fine with having most people forget about it...because I'm at that point where I'd just as soon forget bdays, too....

When I was a kid, my mom would be so pissed off on my bday...she had cooking, cleaning, buying and wrapping to do and she was ultra stressed....and would have me help her while she was stressing out. She glossed over the bday, as did other fam and friends. Plus...I just love summer so much more than winter :)
