I’m having a sleepless night.

There is something in my mind.

Is was talking to my brother who is an app developer about potentially developing something on alexa skills.

He found that we could do it and then agreed 50/50 profit.

However I have since found that it is really easy and I could do it myself. It would also be me doing 90% of the work.

So what do I do. Cut him out and do it myself or share profit where I do all the work?

It’s keeping me up tonight. I don’t want to fall out. But it is way easier than I thought it would be.

I don’t know what to do

How much would you be making?

Is it something you could just tell him you're going to pursue on your own in your down time to see where it goes? Down play it to see if he'll just drop it, maybe?

He’s just messaged me now and said he spent the last 3 hours coding for it. I didn’t know you had to do coding.

The video I have seen seems to say all you do is input intents and reply’s. Is there more to it?

play fair.. no bs .. thats my rule. that way there will be less pressure and retaliation .. aka bad karma... wanna game .. be my guest..

i wish people would play fair.. but not in the USA or quite frankly anywhere else..

there are good people out there, just that greed can really make you see the jackpot within reach and overlook the actual worth of our short 27,000 days here on earth.

good business is letting others do their fair share of the work.

You might have the ability to do this all by yourself(which means you do all the work because it's so easy, right???)

But, he might be in a position as a developer to actually sell the app in a quantifiable way (you would know better than I).

As Yorick said in the end;

It depends what you’re doing.

If you’re doing a simple question/answer, it’s likely you can do it yourself with no coding required.
If you’re trying to keep track of data, gather complex information, perform analytics, or generally react in a way that’s more than a “if this then that” format- you’re going to need some coding.

That said- it’s also possible HE doesn’t know what he’s doing, and is trying to over-engineer a simple problem and doesn’t realize how the Alexa Skills API functions.

If he's already working on it, you've got to keep your agreement. It's too late to renegotiate.

Thanks everyone.

We will stick to the current affrangement for now i guess. I just worry because he never finishes and releases his own projects.

Also I am developing a training academy for my website which I hope to direct people to through Alexa and hope he doesn’t want a portion of that too because that will be all my work!

Sounds to me like you already made the deal, and he's your brother don't go back on him now. Hey when your app makes you both filthy rich it won't really matter. Plus you won't have time to spend all the money by yourself, so remember your good friend Doc Ralph. I'm always glad to help lighten the load.... especially if the load is cold hard ca$h!
