Help me figure this out.

Was president Trump really stupid for suggesting taking drugs he knows nothing about might be effective treatment for covid-19?

Or are the people following his very uneducated advice stupid for listening to his uneducated guesses and swallowing chemicals used for cleaning aquariums because he thinks it 'might?'

Which one's dumber? And do we really intend to accept either reaction from our fellow Americans?

I'm tired of being in a country this fuggin stupid... smh :(

Two married seniors in their 60's swallowed aquarium cleaner because Trump said it might be a treatment. The man is dead.
She was sick and would have died but managed to throw most of the chemical up.

Just cause I woke up from a nap and now I'm grumpy and groggy:

Do you think Republicans are going to regret not impeaching a President they know to be unethical, who's not even particularly popular when we're talking about the general public, lost the popular vote, and who they know probably did everything he was accused of in his impeachment trial?

Impeachment was a golden opportunity for republicans to do their civic duty without losing face with Trump supporters and nominate someone worthy for office for November, there was still plenty of time to nominate someone at that point, the Dems didn't even have a nominee yet.

Sigh.

Im used to that style of crazed tuff guy. Coulpe that with being rasised in cathloc school where nuns wete taking out their s h i t on kids, the whole authoratative script seeds "normal"
Its not and is taking a whole lifetime of healing.
However because of this I can see love in trump nonsensical behavoir if you will.
I do see that he may mean well but is going at it all wrong.
Im furious on his stance on the enviornment. He rots on issues in social services, like the disabled.foodstamps.
My dad was the same way. I have this inner battle with myself all the time.
Im split, right on the fence about trump.
I crave an intelligent leader, same as I did as a child.
Maybe trump will at least create a secondary backlash that would bring a leader like JFK to fruition.
Until than, I cant hate him or love him.
He is my president, just as other presidents in the past who wasnt congruent with my beliefs.
The difference was no matter who the American President was I always stood behind them.
I pray that someone from the Green Party would become our next president.
With climate change and civid 19 we need someone who will help the enviornment.

He indeed IS 100% impeached. That was what Congress did. The Senate chose not to remove him from office. They did not exonerate him from being impeached.

Sigh.

When I think of a republican, (whether wrong or right) I think of business. Business is inherently anti-American. It inherently seeks to reduce cost and reduce waste. Employees are costs to American businesses. Americans are costs to American companies. American companies are inherently trying to reduce YOU out of it. It's the nature of business. Nothing about republicans is for Americans. Republicans, like business, know how to reduce cost, and reduce waste.

Your paycheck is a cost. You will never, ever, ever, be an asset to your employer, ever. No republican can support the idea that you could because you can't. It's part of the definition of being a business. You don't win in business by paying people your money. The goal is to save it. And eventually it will have no need for us at all. Republicans are good at taking us in that direction imo.

I'm sorry about that being the case for you. I've always thought you're really cool and I hate to hear you had to deal with that. I am concerned that your making the comparison with Trump though.

If I could impose my beliefs on you, I would hope you don't look to political leaders to substitute any moral guidance you may have lacked due to having an abusive father.

As noble as some of our leaders agendas may or may not be, they are limited by a system of government that may not be working for us right now. If you find anything to take away from them at all, it might be their good example of having grace while failing.

I dunno why this bothered me a bit. But reading your having to say Trump is better than your father like it somehow makes either one of them 'okay' bothers me.

I'm sorry I can't quite put my finger on it but, I dunno... try not to let either one of them influence you maybe? ....You're cool doing your own thing being you.

After Clinton I have to admit my ignorance, I thought all impeached presidents were to be removed. I think this is the first president that was impeached and allowed to remain president? So I think my ignorance(since i'm not a lawyer) is understandable but it was still ignorance.

Good to know any one of us, especially the more powerful we are, can do a whole bunch of ****shit wrong, and as long as everyone likes you enough it's ok. Harm or not no foul. Cool!

I misspoke, impeachment is not an everday word and the way it works is kinda weird, and I've even heard news reporters accidentally misuse it.

The comparable legal term to "impeach" is "indict." Trump then was impeached, that is, formally accused and put on trial, but not convicted.

This did happen two other times in American history. Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were both impeached, put on trial, and acquitted in the Senate trial.

Nixon was clearly going to be impeached, but resigned before the House voted to impeach him, because he saw the writing on the wall.

I've heard somewhere that a group of high ranking republicans basically approached Nixon and said, "You're going to be convicted if you don't resign." Otherwise Nixon probably would have held on to dear life.

First: You're in a country fitting for your intelligence.
Secondly: My reply had nothing to do with Trump or the couple.
So, instead of replying in the proper context, you deferred my reply, attempting to make it agree with your point of view.
This is typical and predictable behavior of pseudointellectual narcissists which may have the IQ of a middle school student at best.

It doesn't make me a murderer when you had the simple choice of not 👉drinking👈 it.

It's suicide if they intended to die. This couple did not. They expected to be cured by listening to "their" President. He is not a doctor but "knows" everything about it.
"People are surprised to here I know everything about it!"

He's my President. Why would he tell me to take something that will KILL me?

It wasn't suicide. They wanted to live.

@soco
Several problems with that.
I don't believe the article, but if say it is true -
1. Good intentions mean nothing when faced with what their actions would lead to.
2. They are a senior couple in their 60's, born somewhere around the mid 50's.... Let's think about that for a moment.... How do two people defy over 60 years of life experience and turn out to be that dumb? The age of the Snake Oil salesmen was already long extinct....
As many who do not like the Boomer Generation, these weren't stupid Tide Pod eating kids...?

You may not recall the 80's so well, regarding the Tylonal deaths....? What came after that was triple packaging and WARNING labels clearly written at every corner of the box.

So, when the makers of said aquarium juice have labeled their packages: Warning, harmful if swallowed. Consumption of this product may lead to death, I'm assuming they mean it...?

Should it matter what I say after reading that?

Looking at it closer, Trump was was specifically talking about the pharmaceutical version of the drug, and not the version of it that is used in fish tanks.

But in any case there was no real evidence that the drug would work when Trump said that statement about chloroquine, as his advisor, Dr. Fauci, had to say almost immediately afterward. That was Trump just saying a bunch of doo dee that he heard someone he likes say and just took it as wholesale truth or that he knows isn't true and just says it because he thinks optimism is more politically convenient for himself.

What the President says, for better or worse, carries weight, with all of us, even those of us who know he's corrupt and a liar. He's the President - we have to listen when he speaks.

It's no surprise that some foolish old couple got it into their heads that they were doing something smart and creative by taking some fish tank cleaner - it doesn't kill tiny fish, how could it kill me?

But even if the article isn't true...why is the President lying about this? What the actual eff?

Do liberals still, in their santimonious ways, still push tolerance on the masses?
They seem to be the most intolerant bunch .
So much hatred comes from the far left for simply not agreeing with whatever it is they put out.
The real damage seems to be children, who are so confused what freaking gender they are.
No wonder middle america is sick of them and in my opinion will never, ever, ever trust them to lead as president of the U.SA. for a long, long, long time.

I think they have alot of very inteligent people but they use their intelligence for self gain and to manipulate the public in order to gain what they want. Its like a big chess game and they work it out backwards by choosing their goal and working backwards to chose the steps they take.

More heads means more ideas ans they put their ideas together to find the ones which will work best for everyone.

I think there is a complex picture of deceit but not everyone can see it.

I'm not really ready to go through all that material right now, and in any case, I think they are switching to a different anti-viral treatment last time I heard, I forget what.

My dad was recently hospitalized for COVID and he was treated with a version of chloroquine, I belive it was hydroxychloroquine. We are not sure whether or not it helped, but it does not seem to have done any damage to him. He's home now and is completely recovered from covid, though he's still recovering from being laid up in the hospital for so long and from other underlying health issues that he has that the covid agitated.

I'm not a health expert and I rely on people like Fauci who said, even as Trump touted chloroquine, that it was still too early to tell if it was helping. I would hope they would not push it forward unless it was safe. Perhaps the side effects you are talking about are rare enough to warrant it's use, or maybe are only connected to certain versions of the drug. I believe you when you say you have witness ugly things happening, which makes it even scarier that Trump was saying we should use it when he did.
