COMPUTERDIGITAL MOVIES¬ ¬ Does anyone (in the U.S.) here, collect movies in the MP4 or MPEG4 file format?¬ ¬ I have over 2,400 movies that I have converted over to MP4 file format so I can play them with my computer on my flat screen. The awesome part (for me anyway) is they fit on a 2 Terabyte external hard drive not much bigger than an over-sized deck of cards.¬ I'm always updating and expanding my digital library. Does anyone here store movies/videos in the same fashion?

I don't very often.
Such formats are good for saving space and look fine on the small screen. However, 4k Ulta resolution they are not.
It is very like fitting thousands of music files in MP3 format. Fine for headphones but not much more. You are giving up a lot of the actual music in the process.

It comes down to expectation vs compromise.

I do not. I pay out my hoo-hoo for blu-ray.

But speaking of file formats, what are some of the better formats for video; or audio files for that matter.

Willing to be educated!

Thanks BA1. I am already regretting my decision years ago in Apple iPods and iTunes. Looking into changing to a DAP high end unit such as a Astell & Kern sp1000.

Digital Audio Player is DAP. Astell & Kern make a high end unit that resembles the classic iPod but is slightly thicker. The screen is smaller too and I don't recommend watching any movies on it if you could. But if you have high end Senndheiser headphones worth over 2 g-notes you want a DAP that can reproduce every single nuance in a piece of music. Black Sabbath? Probably not noticeable. Annie Haslam? There is no better way.

I'm a very big fan of physical copies. Idk what it is, but I feel incomplete if I can't hold something in my hands. I'm even more so this way with music.
