Have you ever been employed by an employer who tells you one thing at the start, but does nothing they say after you've been there a while?
Why do they do this? I've seen more than one. They lie to you to get you started, run off your hopes for a while till you realize you're being gamed, and then figure you'll just quit I guess...
It's really sick.
Technically, some employees do the same thing. Many people lie on their resumès to get a job. Sometimes they get fired for it. Sometimes they don’t.
Some people are just liars, regardless of the profession or position they’re in.
I understand if an employee isn't a good fit for something. They should say so though. They don't complain a lot, but they don't do what they said they'd do either. I've asked for their feedback but it's bogus. I'm about to lose my apartment and move in with family because of this. I'm lucky to have family to move in with but wtf I'm 40 years old! I'm trying to get them to transfer me to a location near where I'll be moving. I'm also writing up some feedback of my own to submit to corporate after the transfer is approved.
It will be something like this:
Assessment of management and experience at (Company Name):
When originally discussed with the manager, expectations were set that have not been met.
As a candidate interested in (Company Name) MIT program, It was explained to expect six months to a year to be eligible after training.
In initial six months there has been no action toward those goals.
From the beginning of my employment, manager consistently seemed frustrated with me personally after only a few minutes of standing in the same room together or even at the end of a shift randomly and for no explained or apparent reason.
Has made strange statements like wanting to slap me randomly and for no explained or apparent reason.
Manager accused me of theft without presenting proof. I've never seen any evidence of suspicious behavior and the reason given is "I put my hand in my pocket" which may not even be an accusation of theft in itself - Fired and rehired one week later after reaching out to corporate.
When inquiring about performance and advancement I receive shallow feedback with no real professional points of interests, paths for improvement or steps to accomplish goals.
Managers and teammates do not complain of any notable work performance issues that should cause the behavior that I'm aware of, and I have not had any notable discipline issues that should cause the behavior that I'm aware of.
I feel deeply concerned that there may be a personal vendetta or bias that is causing management to treat me differently than others in my store.
I hope that you (upper management) take these concerns seriously and that it is something you are eager to investigate?
Most of the people I have worked for have painted a lot prettier picture of what working for them will like be than what it actually is. I think it is human nature to talk about the positive things and gloss over the negative things when describing something to someone, especially in sales or managers trying to describe your job.
I'm a subcontractor and the person I contract from will hire other people and give them the easiest, most profitable jobs at the beginning. Then when they are committed to working there suddenly they start getting the ****shit jobs like everyone else.
I think the same is true in most relationships. When you start dating someone they put their best foot forward and you only see the best of them. After a while they let their guard down and you get to see all the imperfections. It is what it is...

This is true but different. In my case that's happening but on top it I've had to conclude they've completely lied about anything that was supposed to actually happen in the first six months. They didn't just do this but completely lied about it.
I can understand easing someone into shitty jobs. An employer no doubt wants to be relatively sure they can count on you to be there and deal with it. I can even understand why glamorizing a shitty job with it's conceivable benefits and pluses can happen. But to outline a timeline and absolutely 0% of it happening for no reason is not any of this. It's just a lie. They no doubt build up a candidates hopes to drive them hard and then send them through the revolving door. They're flat out using people from the start with no intention of following through on any of their promises of paths to success and bs bs bs
If it were just that I'm a crappy employee I could deal with that. I'm not and I know I'm not. But if I were they could just say so and I'd move on. They're just using people.
I hope this isn't corporate's idea and that they would be concerned at this sort of thing.
So find another job. At least you got paid. I've had people work me two weeks and suddenly there is no money, that's worse than being lied to. Don't expect your next employer to be any different, most job markets are flooded especially around here. If you don't have a specialized trade there are 100 Mexicans willing to do you job for half the money, and they all live in the same house in south Nashville.

Bullshit. Mexicans always have more money than me. They take all their 100s out just to find the $1.50 they're spending in the store.
Bet they are doing the jobs I wont though.
They all have the best dope and sell it too. Underground economy they show no income because they are all working under the table and collect benefits from good old Uncle Sam. Build the wall already.

No, no wall. Stop it, this is about me not that lol shut up already ;p
Okay the more I read it the more it sounds like this manager and you will never see eye to eye. I think it is more of a personality clash than anything else. Maybe he feels threatened by you, maybe you remind him of his mom that was abusive, maybe he just doesn't like girls in general. Wait are you a girl? I guess if you were a guy he would say he just felt like punching you in the face instead of slapping you. Guys don't slap each other often, well unless they're... never mind.
Yeah you might as well chalk this 6 months down to experience and look for another job, that's what I'd do.

i'm a guy. she's a girl.
and since you mentioned it, i'm negotiating a position with their competitor as we speak.
That was my last job, it was really uncomfortable. They were doing everything they possibly could to keep me in my stupid position, including giving me a bunch of little raises, after they had promised and promised to train me for a different position. Eventually I got really upset with them and the manager told me she wasn't going to move me. Weirdly they acted all surprised and upset when I quit, but it sucked so bad to be treated like that. I don't know whether she really thought I couldn't do the other job for some reason or whether she was just being awful and petty as she often was, but in either case it's not good. I recommend moving on. I have a better job now, there are plenty out there. A place that doesn't treat you well can make you forget or undervalue yourself.

No joke. And you're right, if there were a reason she thought I were not a good candidate, it seems like she would tell me and let me work out a way to move on, rather than waste half a year of my time. She's known from the start I'm not there to do that position for long. Instead she seems to be using me for as long as she can simply because I've been willing to do the work.
Is reporting the negative behavior alone enough to prove it? I wonder what additional options may be available. I wish there were something more tangible so I didn't feel like it could be because of me. I can't find a real reason to think that though.
Whatever the reason one things is true, like you said it just sucks.

It's a tough situation, I wish you luck. I might try asking extremely directly and extremely politely for what you want again. If they don't give it, go somewhere else! :)
I intend to do just that. I just want to have an offer first haha
