Ive been with the flu for 3 days now and I wont let it get me down.

With the exception of a little more rest Im still back in the saddle.
Now I have a question.
Why does the flu always take me back in time when a I was little?
I do this whole re experiencing of my childhood. Happens everytime Im sick
Does anyone else go tru this.

Does it take u back to any memories in particular?

Its strange. I havent had the flu for years. I dont think my body has the defense to produce the symptoms of actually fighting anything lol

i usually go on a Robitussin or Theraflu binge.. and try to ride it out via sleep or television . As far as my will goes.. i cannot stand feeling sick.. i want it over with quickly as possible.

i guess when sick.. the mind wanders into the memory lane.. if i didnt have a computer or anything electronics.. i would probably be lying in bed remembering stuff. Nowadays when sick i just consume a lot of hot soup/drinks and stay occupied with tv, internet or sleep as much as i can.

You’re sick and vulnerable- makes sense that it would bring you back to childhood.

I am a HUGE baby when I’m sick. I blame my mom - she absolutely coddled me when I was ill. I don’t get out of bed, I don’t eat, I don’t take my meds... unless she makes me lol. Now I’m married and my husband doesn’t do any of that for me 😭

His mom is a piece of work who basically just left him to fend for himself and recover on his own as a child. (We don’t talk to her, long story). So now when HE’s sick, he doesn’t want anything but to be left alone. But I coddle him anyways.

He doesn’t coddle me though, not until I start crying and tell him I wish my mom was there... (I’m really a crybaby when I’m sick. It’s the only time I cry.)

I’m so spoiled bc of my mom. She’s the most amazing person in the entire universe (to me) and my best friend... but don’t tell my husband, he thinks he’s my best friend lol.

Feel better soon @Gone ! Make sure to get tons of Vitamin C 😊

We are both so lucky to have had loving mothers in our childhood. I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better! 😊 Back to adulthood, I guess... 😪

I can see why - she sounds like she was lovely. 🙏🏼 You’re blessed to have had her and I wish you could have had her for longer. I know she’s watching over you. ❤️

My mam was really good to me and still is. She were really there for me last year when i had my nervous breakdown too. She spoils me so much. Bought me cuddlys and posters for my wall since i dont get to leave my room. Got me unicorn bunting foe my bedroom to try and make it nice for me. Trying to make my room like a childs palace :) which is the kind of bubblewrap u need during a breakdown.

And comes weekends to do my care and empty commode n stuff. She bends over backwards to help me. Even when i get frustrated she is so forgiving n never leaves. We gwt upset at each other sometimes just cos life can be hard but she will never abandon me. I dont know how she does it to be honest

I don't feel that way. And ironically i still live with my parents. Maybe too much else has changed.

My mom is great and caring. But she does this thing where she'll tell me to do things that i was going to do anyway. Or i'll have an idea, say it, and then she'll say the same thing i just said back to me like it was her idea.

Drives me CRAZY.

Help me with:

When I lived with my parents, all I did was fight with them. My mom and I are too similar.

It all changes once you get a little bit of distance.

And... my mom did those things too, drove me nuts when I lived with her lol.
