I moved here for several reasons -

1. I once had family here, but now there is no one. Let me be clear; I'm all that remains. I was born to older parents as an only child. Just as your grandmother has passed, my grand parents died a long time ago. Then uncles and aunts and close cousins. Then my mom died in '05 and then dad died five years later.
While my parents were alive, they divorced. Mom stayed in Alaska, dad went back home to Texas. Mom never remarried (she preferred that way). But, it was not so with my dad. Dad remarried to a woman with three adult children (all men).
When my dad died, I got nothing from his estate - it all went to people who don't have one drop of his blood running in their veins.

Anyway -
2. The second I moved here is because the cost of everything is much lower than it is in Alaska - but I found there are certain exceptions.

3. I'm an inventor. I have a U.S. Patent. Here in Texas, I have a better chance of getting it produced...
Let me put this in a better way - I may find someone with money who can see the potential of my invention and invest into getting produced.
Being an inventor, I don't have any money and by all means, I did the hard part (at least, I think so).

But now....I'm surrounded on all sides. I'm emotionally out of gas and my sympathies for many are few while my own feet are in the fire (but not many know this - all they see is an a$$#o!#).
And of course there is the daily struggle of my health or lack there-of.

Haha! If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of my myself.

I haven't entirily given up. I'm just exhausted and it takes time to re-cooperate.

As for me....well...life has been kicking my ***ass hard now for over seven years and I'm standing at some very difficult cross roads.
I've spent many Christmas's alone - the one in passing was no exception and New Years Day won't be any different.
I sold my home in Alaska and drove to Texas. Even though I bought property, I was still homeless and living in my truck for a year. I still had money but not the kind to finance a house.
So, I built a small house that is 90% finished, but has no running water.... At least I'm not homeless. I have some survival money - something to pay the electric, gas for the truck and food to eat (keeping the wolves at bay, etc).
But my health has been ****shit for years and I'm filing for Social Security Disability. If I'm not accepted, I'm doomed with no hero to the story.

The reason I mentioned any of this is because if you don't see me here one day, you'll sorta know why.

Anyhow, enough of that. I suppose we all have our work cut out for us, looking on the brighter side of things.

All the same, you made some good points back at that Anon's Post.

It's a shame it's so difficult to have conversations like that while staying civil.

I can personally see both sides of the discussion and agree with neither, but I know people who avidly fight for each side, and I have nothing but respect for the people that can do so without hurting those that they disagree with.

You were able to contribute to the discussion without attacking, which is something nobody else was able to do- so I'd call that helpful in my book! 😄

I would like to point out- I appreciate that you did not participate in the attacks on either side of that post.

Each person is entitled to their own opinions, and we all have our own perspectives on different matters. There is absolutely nothing wrong with providing information as long as it can be done so in a civil and neutral manner. 😊

Glad you've managed to spare a moment or two to the site on occasion, since our last exchange. There's always more work for those who will do it, but the routine can be grinding.
Relatively speaking, I'd say better than last year in terms of the future's uncertainty. After 4 months of jobseeking rejections received an opportunity to prove myself and succeeded, though limited it to 3 months; solidified the sort of impression I desired in the cv, and equally as important was getting to know how some of the practitioners in the field operate and communicate. Have a friend from here but she's been mostly quiet for a while; still, better than none as before.

I understand and (for the most part) I share your view.
Simply put....I just don't understand people who reply to Posts that contain a spiritual nature (as yours was) just to say they don't believe any of it. It makes me want to ask him/her what was the point in replying at all.

maybe on a saturday when im off, i live right across the wilson bridge in md, so its a short ride to most places in northern va. usually when i get off work, i high tail it across the bridge to beat rush hour traffic.

usually on weekends i drive across the bridge anyway in the mornings to get coffee at misha's coffee shop in alexandria on henry st, cuz they have the best coffee around, then usually go to whole foods on duke street. actually getting ready to ride over there in a few minutes.

i dont really get out much when im not working but maybe idk, im kind of an anarchist hippy comedian...
