Samsung A3.

Just got a 128gb memory card for my phone.

Have installed it.

Just read that the phone will use 64 gb maximum.

Does this mean the new card won't work at all?

Will it cause problems if I try it?

Aye, but I'm worried that if I transfer things to it they'll be lost.

A similar post seems to indicate it's okay, as going up from 32 was the more serious format change; however, can't tell for sure there wouldn't be a bug somewhere. If it's a standard os, this is less likely.

What do you need to transfer? I'd keep the old card just in case. Make backups of personal stuff periodically - there's a plethora of physical calamities waiting around the corner regardless.

There may be a jailbreak work around that would allow the full 128g to be used. See if you can find a Samsung forum where the question probably has already been asked and answered.

Not the specific answer but it gives you a jumping off point:

It doesn't seem to have done much yet, good or bad

Slightly wary of trying to transfer.

The last couple of pics I've taken seem to have taken seem to have stored to memory card so I guess that's freeing up space
