I like it. I like it better than the current name. Whether or not it'd bring more users I just don't know. Did we ever figure out who we're lynching for selling the help.com domain? Oh....yeah that was CBS. CBS did that. CBS....

I really don't like CBS much.

In fact, it was CBS Interactive, not CBS Inc. We were under the Game Stop umbrella along with four or five other domains. When they needed to cut the budget several domains went at once. We were low on the totem pole because of our traffic and not a whole lot of ad revenue. We never clicked any of the ads that were forced upon us. Now, we are back to not having any ads so the revenue needed has to come from us voluntarily. I wonder how the bank balance is?

I guess it does sound needy but many people who are really needy would be pleading help me please wont someone help me?

For those who desperately need help it fits well and those peoppe who need help the most might find the site easier?

I knows thats not 100% pc but cant do better just now

The domain name is already owned but is available for purchase. I'm not sure if @Rockster160 has it in the budget to do both sites.

That site is being sat on by somebody- it's the type of person/group/company that buys sites they think may be high value and then resells them at high costs. Think of it like the people that bought all of the toilet paper at the stores, and then tried to resell it for 10x the price. Yeah. Same thing. ๐Ÿ˜’

That was one of the domains I originally looked at, but because of the private seller, I didn't even try to negotiate with them. I've had a pretty poor experience in the past trying to talk to those people, so now I just figure a way around it instead by getting a different domain.

Commonly what will happen is if you send an inquiry, they'll ask you to make an offer. They have a number in their head of what they will accept, but won't tell you in hopes that you offer more. If you offer less, they'll generally make you a counter offer which is 2-3x the price they are hoping for (which, again, is probably 10x the "reasonable" price...) and it becomes a lose-lose haggle match where you eventually might think you got a good deal but still wound up getting the goods for a significantly marked up price. To give some rough estimates, a cheap domain is usually around $5-$20 per year. Privately owned marked up domains can cost $500+ a year, PLUS they make you pay an upfront cost that is commonly around $2,500 depending on the domain. Not saying that's the case for this one, just my experience.
Can you tell I'm a bit bitter about it? ๐Ÿ˜‚

But yes- the name Help-QA came up because it was available for a reasonable price that I could afford without worrying too much about any money coming in. I never expected donations or financial help supporting the site, so wanted to keep it cheap, but still something that more or less fits. ๐Ÿ˜„
Technically, we can have as many different domains as we want. It's very easy to hook up multiple domains to the same place. It just becomes a matter of purchasing/subscribing to the domain in question.

thanks for that @Rockster160 wow i didnt know it worked like that. I can definitely imagine the mentality of some people thinking those ways in terms of money. Its sad really that people become compromised in the name of money.

But i and i think all of us here appreciate how much you have done to bring this site back together. Thank you so much for all the effort you put in.

I totally understand the extortionate prices and respect your wanting to keep the site open access to all. Otherwise members would have to chip in and not everyone can there says given the circumstances.

Ps. no i didnt pick up on your feeling bitter about it. You came across auite neutral and matter of fact in my eyes

Thsnk you for your openess and honesty
