Spending time trying to ignore feelings of worthlessness...

You seem to have issues with every single person you come into contact with. It would not surprise me to learn that every new relationship begins with that outcome predetermined before it starts. Bosses. Coworkers. Dates. Family. Even the person at the checkout window of Wendy's who you will meet for exactly 14.8 seconds and never see again.
Do you have any insight as to why I said that?

How about something practical like a bank account. She can withdraw from it up to a set spending limit every month, say $15 to $20. She must donate a portion to a charity first though. She gets to decide all expenditures. She can choose a Salvation Army kettle or just some homeless person living on the street. Later she can use it to start saving for college.

If she buys a lot of candy she might want to save towards the Dentist's bill.

Food for everybody that needs it; from seniors on Meals on Wheels to children in shelters. Pay farmers a living wage for the food they grow or raise. Universal tuition free education through bachelor's degrees.
