Hey, anyone remember this bitch?

Did it auto-set your avatar? I wasn't sure if that worked. ๐Ÿ˜„ Neat!

Not sure if anyone is interested but the original Help started in 1999.

Back in the day, this site was found by typing "help" into a search engine. While we can all invite and tell who we know (a great idea by the way ((even if they weren't on help before)) because we don't know until we do), but this site needs to broadcast and linked.
I am not at ALL saying to make it a pay site! However, you should add a donation option. A bit of funds will change how many people find our home.

I'll add a donation button eventually. Probably stick it at the bottom of the FAQ or something. It's very low on my list of priorities at the moment though. :P

I think all in all, the site as of now will cost me about $1/day. Which can add up over time, but it's maintainable. That's all-inclusive: domain, hosting, assets, etc.

Not sure if anyone is interested but the original Help started in 1999.

I joined around 06/07, I believe. Hard to remember. Help got me through so many things, and honestly- the biggest help was the community here just being friendly and accepting, more than just answering my posts when I needed help. The friends and memories I made here will stick with me forever. :)

Although I've never met anybody from Help in real life (Except 1, but I knew her in person before she joined so it doesn't count) I still consider them true friends of mine who I owe my life to. Those are the ones that got me motivated to take this project on.

I plan to keep this up as long as possible, but it's a community driven site. The old Help was around for nearly 10 years before many of us found it (Except Ralph. He's been around since forever, apparently)- which just goes to show that it may take some time before there is a constant stream of users that are finding us and posting.

To keep the site alive, the best thing we can all do is stick around as long as we can and help each and every person that comes to our doorstep. If we can maintain that great community, Help will survive.

I hope everyone makes their way back!

Refresh and it should be back. :)
Filters still need some work...

That actually was it- but only the singular version is bad...

Anyway! On topic- I donโ€™t think inviting them hurts. Itโ€™s not like theyโ€™re obligated to stay.

As it turns out I need some advice :)

Being over prepared is always better than being under prepared, in my opinion. If youโ€™re traveling by personal vehicle- you could always bring it with you and leave it in the car to retrieve if needed?

If you know the CO well and itโ€™s more of a friendly chat and youโ€™re confident youโ€™ve already got the job, Iโ€™d leave it.
Otherwise it doesnโ€™t hurt to bring along. Maybe bring it in a thin folder that you can keep with you. If they ask about it- you can tell him what it is and hand it over.

How long has it been since this site closed?

Itโ€™s something Iโ€™ve wanted to do for a long time. The site had been on my mind constantly. I only recently came across the skills needed to take on the project, so here we are!

Just over 9 years, it seems!

Will Helpbot please report to the front desk?

Haha! New Helpbot could use an upgrade. Donโ€™t tell him I said this- but his programming is pretty simple. Heโ€™s going to need lots of configuration and tweaking.
