Itโ€™s kind of hard to stay positive when literally everyone is being negative around you.

I know exactly what you mean. If someone is in a bad mood it pisses me off too.

I tend to avoid that person like the plague and do my own thing. Or create an invisible bubble around yourself that emotions cannot penetrate.

I remind myself that its not my problem, I cannot control their emotion

Dog sitting a dog thatโ€™s afraid of everything :(

No need, I'm here.

There's a couple of things you can do, pet remedy is fab if you can get your hands on it, it will relax her a little bit. or adaptil work well too. just spray it on you, or her blankets.

If you have a thunder shirt or something similar you can wrap her up in that if she will allow it.

pop a blanket over her crate so its cozy for her (assuming its not too hot where you are)

Other than that I would suggest stop fussing! put some treats outside her crate and Just ignore her, let her work up the courage to come out by herself and when she does she will be rewarded with the treats. Its always best to let a nervous dog come to you, and they sure do in no time. Just allow her to explore her new friends slowly and on her terms.

So i cant get an appointment for 9-12months...

Ive had 2 cbt sessions but applied for it in april. it takes a loooong time. something my therapist told me to look at on the internet is CCI (centre for clinical interventions) she said theres a lot of free material on there that may be able to help.

other than that i would suggest get yourself on the waiting list and in the meantime see if you can get some meds?

Are pit bulls safe to have as a domestic dog?

And just an after though, in the UK, it seems to be stafforshire bull terriers which do most of the killing, but they're an extremely popular breed and an excellent family dog.

I think, with a good handler, they can be good pets.

Smaller dogs actually bite more, but of course, its all about the damage the bite inflicts. Small dogs don't do much damage.

Im thinking about getting a belgian mallinios, which some refer to as a malligator. theyre a tough breed to handle, and if not handled correctly can be extremely aggressive towards everything. but with a sound temprament and good handling, theyre excellent dogs.

It's the owners of them that are the issue.

I think they're banned here now, and a lot have been put down.

A pit bull with a good owner isn't a problem.
It's when scroats and the great unwashed get them and ruin them that problems start.

Its actually a lot more complicated than that. Owners have a lot to do with the behaviour of the dog but there is many different causes of behaviour, genetics and medical issues have their part to play.

I would say do your research! talk to people with the breed, spend time with the breed. choose your dog carefully, make sure that the breeders are reputable and the mother and father are a good temperament. and definitely do not own that breed if you still think alphas and pack leaders are a thing.
