Sorry to hear about the fire BA1. I did not hear of this before. Glad you are okay though.

An event of my younger, darker days in the 90's. Days of ash from which I was reborn with a new set of values and appreciation.
Thank you for your kind thoughts.

I've got to read your short story, Big-Al-One!

Sadly, consumed in a house fire. Will re-write it someday.

โ€œHe prefers the security of known misery to the misery of unfamiliar insecurity.โ€

โ€œEverything good is costly, and the development of the personality is one of the most costly of all things. It will cost you your innocence, your illusions, your certainty."

This is a freeking fact.

I once wrote a short story based on this, called "The Krell Gate."

The gist was this:
A ship crashes containing the Krell Gate. An unsuspecting victim finds (her) way into the ship where she is restrained to "the table" by the ships AI system. The Gate is activated. A special laser replaces the molecules of (her) body with denser, more radioactive elements. Then, the Gate opens. Through the portal, steps the Librarian. With his hands, he downloads the entire sum of the knowledge of the universe into her mind.
When the (hero) awakens, she has a form (more or less) of bodily energy. She isn't aware of all the knowledge she has but as it "leaks" through in stages, it makes her more powerful through every cycle (KRONOS).
The race is to return her back to "normal" before she loses her self and her identity as a mortal. A race before she reaches god-level status.

I have this movie!
"The ID, John - monsters from the ID!"

This movie is HIGHLY under-rated.

The writer of this story was far ahead of his time.

The Krell planet, the brain booster - the transference of matter into any shape desired.

Completely ahead of the curve, even by today's standard.

My car has a leak inside.

Edit: Heater core. Under the dash - usually behind the glovebox.
