Who is right.


Room mate. We raised the thermastat for the winter.
Me..how warm.
Roomate. Its winter. Its cold outside. Rolls her eyes. Its cold until april.
Me how warm will the house be?
Room mate. You can regulate the temp. With your vents.
Me. Walk away wondering where the communication
Breakdown happened?
I was trying to establish how warm the house was to know where to adjust the vents.
If it was 75 degrees Halfway.
If she set it at 80 I would close my vent .
I was frustrated she dodged a simple question.
She was frustrated thinking I was a a. Hole and rolled her eyes and didnt answer a simple question.
Who was off?
I felt uncomfortable when she swid its cold during november until april.
To avoid any problems I just walked away.

Wow. You’re right, you need to establish a temperature for everyone to be somewhat comfortable. It’s called compromise. Your roommate sounds like a #%*^]%\€. (<- use your imagination for swear words lol).

If I kept our place at 75 I would die of misery. We keep our place at 68-70 lol.

You could silently wage a war and change the thermostat every opportunity you get (what I did when I had roommates). But also I admit it to not being very effective. I hope someone gives you better advice, I never managed to figure this out.

I felt she was off.
Im not into arguing so I walked away.
I can keep my room cool by keeping the vent closed.

There is a warm 75 and then there is a cold 75.

If it's 100 outside and you cool the place to 75, it's a cold 75.

If it's 20 outside and you heat the place to 75, it's a hot 75.

I can keep my room cool by keeping the vent closed.

Also by running a fan and opening some windows.

Sounds like your roomie is cold sensitive. She needs an electric blanket instead of punishing the whole household.

Its also how she aporoached me slash.
I would have said to my roommates lets talk about heat this winter.
I never would have said We raised the thermostat.. to anyone.
I suspect she put the thermostat at 75 or better since she dodged the question when asked how high was the thermostat set.
If a man said to me its cold in the winter it may have been a different outcome. That was a statement designed to intimidate and very condecending.

Its way warm. Even with the vents closed and window open its hard to breath.

Who moved in with whom? If she moved in with you, you get complete say in what the thermostat is set to. Change it to what you prefer. Then tell her you are willing to talk about it in a calm adult manner. If she needs extra warmth there are ways to accomplish that without inconvenience to the other. Ask if there are any other issues she has too. Being able to air disagreements is key to a beneficial living arrangement. If necessary bring in a neutral third party.

Soco.
Its the landlords platonic girlfriend who doesnt even pay rent. Nothing nada.
The landlord busts his ***ass everyday to support her and her 26 year old son. He is being used but I wont say a word.
My room was 78 degrees this morning and got sick. Headache.
Nausa.
Anyway. I believe the other tenants complained and I believe he reset it to 70.
I hope.
Soco. I avoid this person. She is a control freak and wants it all her way despite she isnt paying a penny for food rent utilities.
Anyway it seems like the room cooled down.

Contact the landlord. He's the one that pays the bills. He'll put the woman in her place and lower the thermostat back to 70.
Your room will soon be cool.

Did you mention that part to her? I don't know, it just sounds like there was some miscommunication. Maybe when you said "how warm" she thought you meant it in a passive aggressive way, like "OMG HOW WARM DID YOU PUT IT YOU CRAZY COLD BLOODED THINGIE."

I don't know, sometimes people see subtext where there isn't any.

Maybe she reacted the way she did because she knew she wasn't supposed to raise the thermostat that high so she was super touchy by your simple question.

Exactly lano.
In fact the landlord is pussed at her for other things.
She ran up a huge utility bill..
The raising of the thermostate to almost 80 was the icing on the cake.
Whoever said to bring in a 3rd party was spot on.
