Anyone having issues working from home?

Email communication is pretty much essential to what I do. And a lot of my job involves telling people what to do when they have problems. I'm more or less an administrative assistant, I think.

But the business we're in is changing constantly, even more so with the COVID crisis, and with new emerging technologies.

The point is, with a lot of stuff always up-in-the-air, I don't always know the answers.

So I have to ask my boss.

Here's where the problem comes in. She is terrible at letting me and my coworker know what is going on in general. Some policy will change and I will go to her in be like, "Did X change?" and she will be like "Oh yeah, it did, I forgot to tell you."

This problem is compounded by the fact that she is very sensitive and defensive. I have been called insubordinate for asking too many questions of her.

That's how it is in the good times.

Now we're in Covid. She responds to, generously, 30 percent of my emails. So that means someone who asked me a question two weeks ago is still waiting on a response because she's not getting back to me.

Anyone else having these problems? How do you deal?

The best you can. If the goal post changes and you are not told of the change, the reason why the ball missed it's mark is not your fault. Sleep well.

The only thing that's changed for me is there is no traffic, I love it. Stay home everyone...

An awful boss.. What is she doing in her position with that lack of communication?

Is there anyone above her you as a team could contact for help anonymously probably, so nobody is singled out for revenge?

There is. But i don't feel comfortable doing that. Her immediate boss used to be my immediate boss and he's not much better and they're buds.

My mother years ago was a census taker. Do your homework. The people that are full on anti government is what you will be dealing with. These are the same group as antivaccers and those that are convinced they have a chip implanted at birth so the government can keep tabs on them. Some may even answer the door armed to the teeth. Be careful out there. Dress professionally and keep your picture ID always, always visible.

Yeah, safety is a concern for me. I feel good about the fact that they don't send you far from your place of residence, at least in my case.

Also they keep track of your position as you do it with a phone they issue to you. So i wonder if there is a panic button on it if something crazy were to happen.

I googled online for people's experiences and generally people seem to feel good about it from what i've read. So that makes me feel better too.

I'm excited, this kind of thing is a little out of my comfort zone but in a good way, i think.

Yeah I did that whole take the census thing in 1980 and it was pretty cool. They give you a list of addresses where obviously someone is living but they ain't answering the door. Probably a bunch of criminals or whatnot trying to fly under the radar. My kind of people, I made a bunch of cool friends and made some great dope connections.... The only good thing was they paid your mileage so you just made up a bunch of numbers like you drove all over the world and got paid for it.

They issue you a phone now that will track your movements.
