Cat question.

Cats play chase each other, hide from/stalk one another and pounce, if a human plays in this manner with their cat, would it cause the cat anxiety (with the human so much larger than them)?

@Nevermind is good with cats- she may have some insight.

I would say no- I've played with cats in that manner before and they seem to enjoy it. ๐Ÿ˜„

If you jump out at it and chase it, I'd say that would scare the hell out of the cat.

You can play with the cat without scaring it, use toys on strings for the chasing and stalking

Cats entertain themselves with the only tools and imagination they can. If they could purchase theater tickets and order an Uber, I've absolutely positive Cats would be the first Broadway play they would go to.

I dont think so. I play with my cats in rough manners all the time. Same as they play with me.

If they have enough of it or don't like it the run away.
Just don't chase them when they've had enough.

But we both enjoy it. Just wait for them to be in the mood. They won't wanna play when they are sleeping.
They have to be up and alert at the time.

My cat is very โ€˜playful.โ€™ She likes to stalk me and sometimes will chase after me or pounce me - I only do it back when she starts. I canโ€™t really pounce her without her knowing Iโ€™m around the corner (because humans are noisy). Sheโ€™ll watch me walk around a corner, then Iโ€™ll peak my head out to just stare at her, usually she makes sounds and then goes for me - other times she doesnโ€™t care at all and just stares back until something else distracts her. Itโ€™ll often be a thing of chasing back and forth. But I just wondered if me chasing her causes anxiety rather than it feeling โ€˜funโ€™ - the only other time she chases me is when sheโ€™s mad at me for something (not done with the intention of making her angry), which is a genuinely scary experience for me, she jumps high and bites hard.

I play with my cats all the time. They love to play "peek-a-boo" and to chase laser lights. My first cat would hide behind the curtains, and then run out on her hind legs while "ambushing" us. We had a two-piece couch and she'd reach her paw in between and see what she could feel. We had a guest one night and he jumped out of his skin when her paw came out of nowhere and started patting him on the arm!
