Are Meyers-Briggs types supposed to be permanent?

I used to be an INTJ and now I'm INFP.

No- people change over time. It also depends on your mood when taking the test- if youโ€™re stressed or in a rush you may answer differently than if you were calm and collected.

I'm strongly I and N. The T/F and J/P are pretty middle usually, but seem to have drifted permanently.

Does this mean I can't be an engineer anymore, since ALL engineers are INTJ?

I'm a middle aged mom and I still need to decide what I want to "be" when I grow up.

Absolutely not. And not all engineers (or any other career) are one type or another. There might be stronger tendencies, but no requirements. Do what your heart desires and work hard to get there. ๐Ÿ˜„

I know, I know, not ALL engineers are INTJ. Just most. Just all the ones I've ever discussed Meyers-Briggs tests with. Which, really, is a small sample. I'm just looking for an excuse to not go back to the work I used to do.

Sadly, my heart desires too many things. I want to do a million things, all to make the world a better place. I don't know where to start!

Compared to all of the things life holds- weโ€™re alive for far too short a time to do everything. ๐Ÿ˜ž

However- we DO have time to give just about everything that we want may a solid try. So start experimenting. If Engineering is an interest, start focusing more on that area. Narrow it down until youโ€™ve found something you really enjoy and then broaden your knowledge about that topic. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a degree in engineering and I've worked as a civil engineer, but the most fun job I've had was actually as a bus driver - though few bus drivers use their careers to change the world for the better. The most intrinsically rewarding jobs I've had have been related to scientific research - I love to do things that have never been done before - or child care and early education, because young children are the best of people and curious about things.

I think when my current gig as a middle class housewife is up, I want to be an inventor or mad scientist. Feasible?

Or maybe a science educator in a museum.

Meyers-Briggs is a load of crap.

Meaningless and so inconsistent.

No human being can design a "test" to determine what you should do in life.

Absolutely. Really I'm just trying to make conversation in my socially awkward way.

Like a horoscope, it has value if you can use it in a positive way, and is a "load of crap" if it limits you.

Hmmmm . . . now HOW would you design an IQ test for someone much, much smarter than yourself?
