I think that’s why I’m freaking out. I asked last night like I have several times over the last two months and she’s just saying no.

I lost it with her last night. She’s just so selfish, I would get it if we didn’t already have one, or I wasn’t a dog trainer. But she insist she wants to live her life. I’m not stopping her. She stops her self when she is on Facebook constantly.

She’s not happy with her life so she’s ruining mine

:( That is so hard! What are you going to do then? Will you bring the pup despite her? Will she cause a hell? How will the pup stop her living her life? How about your dad? :((((

I think I will have to just bring him home. And it will cause hell. But am I supposed to give up my dreams for her? I’ve done that for long enough. She actually said she would love for me to have a puppy. But not now for whatever reason in her warped head.

It won’t affect her at all. She mostly stays at home anyway playing diggy adventures on facebook. She goes out every fri with her mum and sis. Puppy will not affect that.

She is unhappy. And she is using a puppy as an excuse. But the fact is she doesn’t live life now anyway. I want to live my life going to events at weekends and training my dog through the week. My work is flexible so that’s no problem for me. I won’t ever ask her to take care of the puppy unless it’s an absolute emergency as I don’t want her screwing up my dog. Which she would given the chance. I’ve spent 3 years studying dogs so it’s not like it’s a whim which will pass.

All she does is blame people for her problems.

Nah, sorry, soco, I don't agree with that.. She is a parent and it is her house, but Nix is not a child anymore! And they live together so there should be some mutual acceptance and compromises..

My mother is very much like Nix's so I can symphatize. Luckily for me I live over thousand miles from mine now.

I really hope and pray that the puppy will touch your mom's heart and bring her some light and love rather than hell. All the best xx

Harmony is what is wanted. If another pet, at this particular time, is going to cause discourse in that harmony it is simply not worth it.

That’s why I’m always reluctant to post these problems. It’s so easily to say her house her rules so I must do whatever she demands. My dad is all for a puppy. And if she had valid reasons then I would accept it. But it is no burden to her financially or time wise. The puppy will help me with the business and networking.

I agree with you, Nix; although your mom can be thinking like soco.
Let's just hope for the best..and be prepared for the worst.
If you don't try, you won't know, will you? What will you do in the worst case? Would you be in a position to move out yet?

Yes. So would 7. Or 12. Or 18. Look, I've got nothing against dogs. I used to own 5 but are now down to 3. 3 is a good number for us. 2 is NOT a good number for your mom. If you respect her wishes she might eventually cave. But until then....

Soco, but Nix's mom is not being reasonable - she is being difficult, and inconsiderate! :((

I know your fed up of hearing it luv but Soco is right “her home her rules” you need to abide by whatever she says if your living under her roof.
Don’t get me wrong I understand your frustration, however it’s already noted that it’s not a happy household, you bringing in another pet might escalate things further.
When you have your own house you can do whatever you please.
