What’s the point.

Why do I even bother having hope that things will work out when I’m just left disappointed. I assume things with go wrong so I’m not left disappointed but sometime I have hope and shocker, it goes wrong. I got my dream job, a marketing coordinator at an animal shelter. Well turns out that’s not really the job. I sit at a long front desk with 4 people, only 3 chairs, and 2 computers. I am given no direction on what I am supposed to do and am given no responsibilities. I took a pay cut and commute 2 time longer than my other job. I am crushed. I was so excited and now I am miserable. I am looking for a new job and am so discouraged. Oh and I also let myself like a guy who, surprise, only wants one thing

Well, the other option is much less.
To not care, to push everyone away . . . it leaves you alone. Sure, by choice, but is it really what you want?

Ah, Music, I am sorry that you are disappointed in your new job. However . . .

You are now in a position to blaze new marketing trails. You can do things that have never been done before.

For starters--does the shelter have a Facebook page? Do you show the pets available for adoption on Facebook or on your shelter's web page? Do you solicit for donations? Do you let schools and police departments know that your shelter offers opportunities for volunteering? Do you go to local schools and do presentations about the animals and need for adoptions? Have you invited local media to come to the shelter and see the animals that need to be adopted?

There's a universe of things you can do! And those little animals are depending on YOU!

Secondly--women who appear weak and vulnerable attract the kind of males who want "only one thing." Project strength, self-reliance and determination. Stay away from people in the organization in which you work--such relationships almost always end badly. Smile confidently, act with conviction, and accept no BS from anyone. Not from ANYone!

I so want to see a happy post from you, Music=life, you don't even know! This curse must be broken; may the hope persevere and blessings start pouring in..

If you can't turn this job around, hope you will find a new one in which you will be happy. Have you been able to find someone to rent your apartment? Have you been able to socialize more with friends?

They won’t let me make any changes or take initiative bc they’re philosophy is if it’s not broke don’t fix it. All I do is make mediocre videos with any free software I can find. It’s as if they hired me but don’t want my opinions. They won’t give me access to any social media partly because they don’t even know their own passwords.

I wish things would go well enough to have a happy post. No one wants to rent my apartment so I am paying 1200$ for a place I don’t live in. I’ve tried reaching out to my friends but everyone is too busy with their new friends and lives.

That is lots of money.. Keep advertising! Someone suggested to me yesterday asking at a police station or hospitals as their stuff needs sometime short term lets.

Sorry your friends are busy :( Make new friends then! Start a new hobby and you can meet folks there.. Wish we lived closer.. so could hang out together! :)

Start your own business/service?

Let the apartment go.

Find a guy who likes you for more than just your body?

Pick better friends?

If I had money I could do the first two. If people wanted to be my friend or I had time to go out and meet new people I could do the second two.

Hhmmmm...... Sorry. Not completely convinced just yet....

If you let the apartment go (the one which is costing you $1,200 per month) it seems that that money could go towards funding a business (5 months of rent adds up to $6K and that's a huge investment you could make into your own business).

If people wanted to be my friend or I had time to go out and meet new people I could do the second two.

Wait-wait-wait.....

Oh and I also let myself like a guy who, surprise, only wants one thing.

It seems you have time to meet the wrong people....?

Must it be said?

There are people who will like you for who you are. You just need a better filter...and patients.
That's all.

Then sublease the apt for half price.... Taking 50% loss is better than losing it all.

....oh.....and "friends" in this case seldom help. You could go to a busy motel and tell them you would be glad to accept their overflow. Simply let them know your situation (but do not disclose monetary figures). You may recover your losses (and even make some money back).

Come up with a written marketing plan, and submit it to the leader of the outfit. Show plans for local media coverage, social media, community outreach, etc. Tell the leader you just want the go-ahead to implement it. Explain how each proposal would benefit the organization. Show them how the status quo will leave them under-resourced. Help them set goals for adoptions and donations.

Go for it!

I quit. Friday was my last day. I drove 40 minutes to work and was told there wasn’t a computer for me to use and I could just go home and work there. This job was supposed to be fun and it was causing more anxiety. I am now looking for new work.

Don't be hopeful. We spend the first half of our lives asking this question and the other half struggling to cope with the answer. Answers can be different depending on the person though. Good luck.
