Anyone familiar with Indian culture?

I am trying to figure out what people from India generally think of facial hair. Vandyke styles/full mustache and beard.

I have a job interview and the manager happens to be from Indian descent. I'm trying to consider how he might judge my appearance. Should I keep a tidy beard/mustache to interview? Does it have any impact culturally? Is it viewed in any way as a sign of strength or maturity? Or do Indian men tend to not care one way or the other generally?

Do they tend to be viewed positively for leadership roles or do they tend to not get hung up on it either way?

Any advice appreciated particularly if you're very familiar with cultural views and can provide a real educated guess if it matters one way or the other if I have one or not lol

Sounds like an issue that @Araz could explain but she's been away for a while and I don't blame her.
Maybe someone could get a hold of her?

His age and number of years in the country would make a large difference, and obviously personal preference. If he's 2nd or 3rd gen, the effect is practically negligible (and stereotyping might be a bad idea).
If you don't care either way, go with clean shaven or a short trim like the youngsters, if suitable - the modern standard is fairly pervasive. There are ample points to be gained or lost on germane metrics.

I currently have a beard and mustache. I don't like it to be long though so even if I am lazy there comes a point I can't take it anymore and have to trim it. I'm thinking I may trim it neat and professional looking and go with it that way.

To be honest i'm only wearing it because i want to look more commanding and older and wiser n all that.

i'ma shave this ****shit off my face as soon as i get the job lmao...it's not how i normally roll

The Indian guys I know have trimmed full facial hair and are in there 20s. But honestly I don’t think anyone will care. Be yourself. If you hate it shave it.

Happens to be of Indian descent like he's always been a citizen of your country or seems like he just moved? I think your best bet is to just be your professional self. You can watch some Bollywood films on Netflix for fun, but I don't think you're going to be able to learn much about this man without spending more time with him. It would be worse if he thinks you are behaving differently toward him because of stereotypes about Indians than if he sensed some innocent ignorance about his culture. It's a big country with the second or third largest population, a lot of different religions, and a ton of different cultures, so it'd be really hard to average anything out assuming he even has strong ties to India and isn't born and raised American or something.

Hey guys! Sorry it’s been awhile since I’ve been on this site. All of my Indian male cousins have full beards, it’s the trend right now. They keep it trimmed though! My husband has a beard too and he’s white lol. I think as long as you keep it clean, you should be fine to interview with a beard. (Although I’m sure your interview has come and gone by now!)
