What can I do to get my child to stop chewing his clothes?

My son has Autism also. He occasionally will chew his hand, right next to his thumb. He used to chew clothes too but I just reinforced my objection to that bad behavior and it has pretty much stopped.

Your first instinct will be to buy new clothes to replace the ones he has ruined. Resist this. He will get the message, mostly from peers, that ABC clothing is socially unacceptable. He will want unruined clothing then.

Don't sweat life, kid. Nobody is going to eat you! I sense you need to learn to relax, to quit overthinking things and getting worked up about them. There is probably a physical basis--a jittery digestive system can make you anxious.

You can check your blood pressure and pulse yourself. I personally use one called QardioArm. It is wireless and works on your phone. The advantage of this is the history is kept on your phone so you can show your doctors. They look for trends.
