More like you're just being taken for granted like a nice yet subtle piece of furniture.

Man, oh man, I know that feeling!

This guy I was best friends with birthday is coming up.

Just a simple "happy birthday" with no further expectation of conversation should be fine. If he feels ready to talk, he can take it from there. Otherwise, you've only let him know that you wish him happiness on his birthday.

You mean like you feel temporary?

once a black person said to me, you were born white, that's like winning the lottery, i thought about it and said to them, i didn't get the money.

He was being dismissive of your hardships. Some people can only see their own problems.

Historically in America, poor white folks have had more in common with poor black folks than with rich white folks, but nobody likes to talk about that. Better to keep us divided.

Last post before I go back into hiding.

Never be satisfied. Better than it used to be is no excuse to stop getting even better.

But yeah, mostly I'm content. I have a peaceful existence.

I haven't accomplished much lately, but I've got a lot going on. I'm working on remodeling my barn into a "guest cottage". We don't ever actually have guests, so I might need to come up with another name. Mad scientist lab sounds cool, but probably inaccurate. Plus I'm not sure the floral print slipcovers would be right in a mad scientist lab.

My kids are all in school now. I need to start thinking about getting back into the workforce. Self employment is appealing, but I don't have an idea that inspires me. Whatever my self employment turns out to be, if I do that, the name will have to be Panda Playground, because my guest cottage/mad scientist lab is in the middle of a bamboo forest. (I know, sounds crazy, but it's true and I've started to hate the cursed stuff, but I'm trying to embrace it's invasive presence, as long as it stays clear of my grapevines and fruit trees.)

How about you, @Gone ? Are you satisfied with your life? What are you working on accomplishing nowadays?

Thanks. Feels superficial, I'm pretty sure I'll shake it in no time.

Tea is a good idea. :)

Enthusiasm.

I hope so. I want this site to do well.

I'm usually quiet, I'm not witty. I'm more likely to answer than to ask.

Lately I'm depressed. I think I just need to start taking multivitamins again, or maybe stop paying attention to the news.

Anyway, ok yeah, that's not really enthusiastic sounding is it?

Any ideas for how to counter mob mentality?

No, that's definitely not my intention.

I don't want to lead anyone. I just want to know if there is a way to motivate people to think instead of just blindly going along, especially if what they are going along with goes against their own stated morality or values.

The shortest distance between 2 points is a slight curve.

My brain starts to curl at the edges when I think about this. It's because gravity, right?

how many steps would it take to walk to the moon?

I just came across this. 30 earths would fit between the Earth and the Moon. https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/moon-distance/en/
