Just a simple "Hello", "Thanks", or chat! Back to twosocks's profile...
Hey,
Hope you're doing okay...
No no, mentioning the legendarium by name would shatter the fourth wall. That's fan info, but the work itself is worthy of general familiarity.
Problem is, you cannot enforce your own deadlines, can you?
Must seek other means of focus to become independent. I can only offer what I've observed to be most effective in my case (diagnosed as "clear case" add), namely cutting out the distractions of random queries and other tasks, as though monitored in a workplace or final exam; seize distracting thoughts as they hatch and (physically) steer back to course; rhythm of productivity kicks in with a sequence of progress.
Mayhap it would not be as effective for you or in creative writing.
You refer to the literal "dead line", yes? The sensation of days having gone to waste idly, or with little of the intended progress. Though that may require some remedying, I think you also should remember that you enjoy writing and drawing, becca, and follow them whither you find most enticing personally. The fell mood of a purely businesslike perspective might engender an early burnout in the long run without copious willpower.
And sorry if that's obtrusive or summat, the discussion. You'd said before you don't like being in the center of attention, so thought you might be able to respond more naturally in this manner.
Pressure doesn't affect everyone positively. Personally, I'm guided by douglas adams: "I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.".
It doesn't have to be finished product quality level. I've seen works going through stages, small alterations in the concept art, as though getting acquainted better with the details. Everyone did remark about restraint and I'm in agreement that may be the most important thing, leaving the editing till after creation had run dry.
Um, you know of tolkien and lord of the rings, right? (To have been in a relationship with a guy who had not mentioned one or the other at some point is unheard of.) Legendarium is the name for the universe he's created, in which that story occurs, among others.
Oh, cool. Actually, I can empathise with your trouble more than theirs - never managed to describe my music preferences aptly, so after growing weary of explanations I've boiled it down to "It's a secret".
Perhaps you could mention a few details of this one - setting, how does the "art" part fit in?
Yeah, could be a circular process, illustration inspiring writing and vice versa.
Hiya becca,
Regarding your writing, it occurred to me that you have in your disposal the precious, somewhat uncommon gift of illustration, which you could use both to evoke interest for the reader and manifest scenes to divine better insight for where you're going. Perhaps you've made this deduction already, nevertheless think it's worth mentioning.
By the way, what kind of genre are you writing? I'm thinking in terms of tolkein's legendarium constantly, dunno whether it's even relevant.

Have you seen that one?
Aww he looks adorable!
I'll try to upload a pic of my little doggie later. :)
He's a malticion which is Maltese/bichon. I have to say he's the best dog I've ever had,so well behaved and lovable.
Lol I can't imagine me hugging an hedgehog the way I do to him. ๐
I'm really well, thanks.
I know it's been a while so there bound to be many changes.
I loved seeing your little hedgies. I also considered getting some, but I got a dog instead.
My little treasure. ๐
Hi Rebecca long time no speak!
How are things?
You still raising little hedgehogs? ๐
Here's to a future opportunity for both, and more.
Didn't mean to sound argumentative or something, intended to ask sincerely.
What makes you think it more difficult? Besides the technical aspect of a ladder & visualisation? Is it all that different from a very large canvas? I think you'd do quite well with practice; you probably have a better eye for it than I did, so you've noticed the proportions are slightly off, most likely - can envision repairs done on the fly whilst getting used to this form. Clearly there's some distinction (vive la difference) between people like banksy and the rest of us, but I imagine many see the meaning ere the fine details. Asked my father once, he said some people would be willing to shell out a tidy sum for a good mural in private quarters. Mayhap not so many. How have you been getting by, if you don't mind me asking? Hopefully not a starving artist or some irrelevant line of work, I mean. Are you currently mostly into digital art, or do you practice any physical illustration techniques?
Likewise - inuyasha was the first one imported to these backwaters, and through interest in the style I learned what anime is originally. Way too many fillers & flaws for the impartial observer, but still. The fad didn't exactly catch on in tv, thankfully the net got better.
Oh, s'ppose it's no great loss, then. Kind of ironic how connections don't last in spite of all the technology available. My parents and grandparents still met with some of their old mates after moving abroad. Maybe it's more my fault than the generation. Moving away takes quite the adjustment... have you made any new friends? At least we'll have this place for the time being.
See? Much more efficient way of handling debates. Good thing you have control over your bf, we men often tend towards proving right above all other considerations.
I take it you've been to japan? What was it like? My friend always talked about it, yet over time he seems to get more entangled in his obligations. Quite impressive how intensively pianoman's been studying for the opportunity to relocate yonder.
That's one:
Rumiko's mostly, um... screwball romance and tradition oriented, I guess? And action's secondary. Inuyasha's the most well known, so you've probably heard of it though not favourably, I reckon.
Kino's short (13 episodes) and philosophical, plenty of manga volumes.
Yeah, that's quite the downside of any creation from what I hear, demand for free replicas. I'd made just one sculpture to commerate a friend's release and already this random girl constantly pestered me to make one for her; opted instead to teach her how to make them herself, which she was satisfied with fortunately. But you enjoyed it? If so, that's great.
Wow, high school without an art class? Sounds quite dreary. In ours, the first few generations painted murals throughout the halls, presumably as a graduation project. I don't think blank walls fit the spirit of youth defining these years.
I'm a tad confused, did you get into that art club eventually? To be frank, she doesn't really seem the type I'd want to reach out to. Are you still in contact with the others, though?
I understand what you mean, wishing to be left alone. Due to a tendency to goof off and say the oddest things (as you must've witnessed) I kinda stood out enough to have a few friends usually, yet wouldn't join any external activities. Eventually it ended and I got my wish, however disillusioned since nobody cared to ask how I was doing once they stopped requiring my assistance. Although the initial shock threw me on helpcom's footsteps, guess I can handle remaining invisible if I can prevent others and their stories from being forgotten because nobody asked.
Well, I have to agree with ralph in this matter. You should too. https://help-qa.com/posts/161-ralph-is-right โบ
Your place looks pretty good now. Decorated and all that. Very nice.๐
I seem to recall many of the names and avatars, but the people only in a vague way or a one line summary. Memory's always been weird like that, good for backtracking of notes yet upsetting for people when they had to reintroduce themselves.
I think it's a self portrait - she did a lot of these in different outfits, had a list of combinations. Wondered about it for years, but couldn't ask because it felt kind of ignorant / out of place to do so, and incapable of initiating conversation with girls and strangers IRL.
Hmm. Back in my middle year of high school, I sat next to this quiet guy, 6 feet tall, in physics class. He turned out to be an avid gamer, a talented artist and highly imaginative, so we'd discuss reviews of such things, and he'd draw hilarious mockery demonstrations which I've probably stored somewhere 'round here. That was one of the more memorable experiences, since I'd been locked into the solemn nerd clique / way of life since ~8yo. It kinda destroyed our grades at one point. What was high school / college like for you? Did your drawings attract attention, have you managed to get through the educational work parts after all?
Was referring to our dear doc ralph (that was the healthcare emoji; by the way, you can search the whole list and tags at https://help-qa.com/emoji ).
Your old bucket profile still appears to be up at http://s1147.photobucket.com/user/Rebeccagayle/... , if you remember the email or password you used you can restore the other. Though they may seem dated to you, I think they still reflect bits of the past, and are definitely lightyears ahead of anything I'd ever achieve.
Many of the old helpers moved on with their personal affairs, found a place in reality as far as I could tell. I can live with that, even if it means we'll never meet again till the grand helpcom reunion.
I have a rather peculiar taste in anime. Fond of rumiko's works and kino's journey. Rather, I used to enjoy listening to a friend describe the plot and his thoughts regarding the more mainstream ones he liked.
๐
And maybe it's just coincidence, but if the image you sent is a reference to the one on my profile, well played. :)
No problem, I've been using my shoutbox as a test site as well. ๐
Attaching photos in text is simple here - no tags necessary, any direct url is automagically rendered into image form.
Thank you for taking the time to draw and upload these, they're quite charming. :)
Ho! Sorry if it's a tad creepy, but I recall that bucket username! Hello, miss funn. ๐
I think a certain ๐จโโ๏ธ had been looking for you the other day, said he missed your old drawings of him after I'd managed to excavate one.
Can't quite recall, but fear I might have been kinda mean to you in the old place, indeed to many people... Really sorry if I were, it's portentously / ironically regrettable since I had been seeking any anime fans round the site constantly (with little luck), and admired artistry.
Indeed, colleagues' doodles. Many of the soldiers are bored out of their mind during free time, so many a girl amused themselves with these. Actually, mayhap drawing was a bit rare, painting sketches and creative crafts more common. The lads as well, but they were usually limited to plain geometric renditions. There was one fellow who filled an entire page with a sort of word collage meticulously, 99% of it stylised fonts of "Yesterday" with a few other lyrics from that beatles song. I've seen him add to it, apparently unconsciously, during phone calls and such.
There's one who left her collection behind after resigning, I'll see if I can upload an example.
As far as I know you must have a link (of some sort).
If you use a phone, press and hold on the image and select choice. If on a computer (mouse) right click for the hyperlink (url) and copy.
Either case...you need to surround the url with sharp brackets ] [ (I've put these ones backwards so they do not activate)
A more perfect question - can I post images directly from my computer - not here or most places. You need a "hosting site" like Tiny Pic or Photobucket (or others) where you can upload images and in turn those images are assigned links of all kinds.
Sorry...
Oh, haven't seen the other ones. Would be delightful, if you've uploaded them somewhere and don't mind sharing. Used to collect these discarded doodles in the army, they liven up all the dreary paperwork.
Hello.
Are the avatars you've used (save for BA1's animation) your own drawings?
I think they're quite stylish.
Here to please - i'm glad you like!
Me too. ๐
Itโs hard! Other people donโt understand. Thatโs one thing that makes me nervous- does the site look too old now, so people wonโt use it? I donโt know.
Yeah, Iโm not sure how they used to do them. ๐
The only thing Iโm worried about with the vote is it becoming a popularity contest more than anything else. But weโll see how it goes. ๐
I love how many of the old helpers jumped back on here so quickly. ๐ Definitely need to work to get this place more bustling though. But it takes time.
The biggest thing is filling a hole in our current coverage. Right now weโve got a few mods, but very few โnewโ users, so there isnโt a lot of need for moderation.
As the site gets more popular and we start seeing traffic, the need for more mods will arise. At that time, weโll have a way to select a few potential mods and likely do a community vote for who the next mod will become.
Chances are, it wonโt be for a bit though, as we have very little fresh traffic coming at the moment.

For what it's worth.
Hey! I saw you had a question in Chat- I can try to answer that for you if you'd like. ๐
