I'm 6 years sober and I want to quit going to alcoholics anonymous.

I concur with al; additionally, would like to point out two things which may be worth reflection:
How your family and friends (outside the group) would react to the change, in turn impacting your adjustment.
Whether beyond the routines involved, you feel your companions understand, or merely abide by norms.
Notwithstanding the value of solace, it might be corrupted over time when clung for fear of the unknown.

Have you ever loved someone you shouldn't have?

Pardon me, but rather than love I see here fraternisation of two coworkers of equal standing with a good measure of chemistry,
retrospectively painted with shades of oneitis due to solitude.
I don't quite fathom why she'd be so severely upset with your acceptance (just a job, after all), unless there were very few slots available and she felt like you stole the position from her; in which case envy would be difficult to appease whence you stand (aside from utlising affiliations to pull her in, as sherlock suggested).
Whilst it isn't so terrible, basking in fancies of guilty pleasure, you still have time to attempt opening up to new possibilities. The capacity to do so is impeded by second guessing every step of the path.

Postscript: If it's all the same to you, I'd appreciate some feedback, anon. Even if you disagree, I'm not sure I can fully understand through soliloquies.

excellent skiing conditions explores three crack crack 'worlds'

Methinks helpbot wanted to say something here, yet lacked the vocabulary. Perchance to promote their buddies at spl. Some bots are born more fortunate than others.

I haven’t gotten any cravings to smoke (Day 10 Nicotine free!) but I’ve been told I’m crankier, I have a gross cough that won’t go away, and I’m tired all the time.

Nope, sorry. But rooting for ya!

Can I password protect a portable HDD?

Ah, methinks you'd probably fare better with some free customer management / database software, in that case. Unlocking & relocking is a pain, forgotten password nightmarish.

As you can see, most charge big $ for such services. Without any prior experience, I'd give suitecrm a shot; self hosting is preferable, interface suitable to your capability / convenience is more or less the only other significant aspect.

By the way, you should have a recent backup or two outside the hdd at any time. Failure is inevitable. Ought to be as easy as copying a file or export / import.

Self-grieving and poisoning thoughts.

Have you lost any classmates yet? Two so far, for me. One during the 2nd year, the other a couple years ago. I didn't know them well, but witnessed the mourners then and thenceforth.
Yes, I am aware of the feeling. Deem it deceitful. Not that they don't care, rather always too late to say so.
17 years is a long while. Never managed to hold on to the same close friend longer than 3. Like an invisible backlog of vexations piling up, permitting the physical dislocation to break the commitment. There are few furnaces belching hellfire nowadays, to forge pairings which don't wane over time.
This doesn't indicate futility. Things happening all around; not as a clean equation like newton's 3rd law, more like quantum mechanics shenanigans. Are you so certain you know your friends well enough to lure them to make the expected move? (Aow iv 1-3 comes to mind.)
I don't much care for meaning. I prefer to make my own goals. My profile's filled with a few of my interests, which most assuredly make me hard pressed to find a viable common language with any inhabitants of this planet, particularly natives of the commonwealth. Notwithstanding, devotion itself contributes to a sense of accomplishment, even in a fleeting connection.

Why are my chocolate chip cookies cakey and not dense and chewey?

And . . . not all ovens are at the temperature the indicator dial says they are. Some are hotter, some cooler. You might think your oven is at 400 degrees, when it is really 350.

Yeah, just yesterday read another reminder to acquire a proper thermometer. Always neglect to remedy that...

Why are my chocolate chip cookies cakey and not dense and chewey?

Perhaps it would be easier to assess the cause given the recipe and any irregularities / errors you may have noticed in following the instructions (that is, if you have some experience with it or baking in general) - note you asked anent high temperature yet didn't state what you had tried. Image of the cookie's interior as well.

I'm only a dabbler, but here are some personal insights:
- Temperature is variable, as is baking time. The base is 180c, in general higher produces crunchy exterior & soft (or unprepared) interior, and lower is used for even spread, such as the delicate cheesecake. Erring on the high side here is unlikely to have been the primary cause.
- Butter is crucial, although it may seem excessive on paper. Gives the dough a few notable characteristics: greasy, malleable yet retains shape, can't be stretched yet sticks together. Almost no other wet ingredients besides egg - one should suffice for a medium batch - as far as I can recall. Inaccuracies with these seemed to engender my failures for the most part - during baking, they would appear to melt completely.
- Not much of a notable difference twixt baking powder & soda, latter perhaps saltier, usually use a 50-50 mix; correct quantity is significant, however.
- Straight out of the oven they might be quite soft, after ~1hr of cooling they harden greatly.

OS upgrade

Had xp at work and home till ~2yrs ago (hardware failure). Experienced each windows above it since.
Methinks you should look into the various features & faults in each os - it's kind of an individual choice based on your needs & expectations. You may find you're missing out by sticking to vista.
From my perspective,
7 fairly elegant, relatively simple to adjust to the old feel whilst improving some tasks.
8 changed a buncha stuff and panned hard for it, but after a bit of a learning curve it was a bit faster to rid of old habits, moreover further improved under the hood functionality.
10 more or less combines the elegance & utility of these two, however introduced vexing ads & their apps (takes time to obtain alternatives), telemetry which is practically impossible to disable completely (there's a growing list of requests one must block, some mistakes breaking 'innocent' features), and constant upgrades which cut both ways - kinda heavy, take a while to install, obtrusive, largely benign in terms of learning curve.

If you haven't switched hardware in several years, I agree with sherlock it's a priority.
If your uses partake in the race for heavy duty graphics or grueling work, os expiration might be less significant so you can choose the one most suitable for your preferences; however, if you've no intention to move to mac or one of the open source systems, and prefer to plan for the long term, might be necessary to bite the bullet on 10.
