I understand the importance the resurrection story holds in your particular religion.

Josephus, the Jewish historian, records that Christ was crucified. We have the attestations of the Apostles that he was resurrected from the dead. If it was all a made-up story, you wouldn't have had a woman being the first one to report seeing the risen Lord. Nor would you have had the Apostles going to their tortuous deaths to spread a lie, or the chief persecutor of the Christians being converted on the road to Damascus. Immediately following the Crucifixion, the Apostles were in total disarray, demoralized and scared. Something would have had to happen to give them the faith and fortitude to carry on. The world was changed by the Resurrection of Christ. The world would be changed further if more people believed and took to heart the teachings of Christ.

Is it ok for a pacifist to accept free entertainment from the military-industrial complex?

My six year old artist had her mind blown at an air force optics display. She stood and argued with the man about primary colors. He said red and blue make yellow. She said "I paint a lot and I know: red and green make brown and yellow is a primary color." He tried to explain absorption vs reflection, but it only confused her more. Finally, when she was near tears in frustration, I cut in "there's different primary colors for light". She was relieved.

Military people too often tend to make things too complicated.

Never think soldiers just want to go out and kill people. Soldiers are the biggest pacifists. They know what death and carnage looks like.

I can see where he'd be driven to Stoicism.

I have a silver denarius with Marcus Aurelius' inscription upon it. Got it in Germany.

If you want to befriend someone of the opposite gender and don't want to seem "interested", how?

Truth be told, about 60% of the guys wait for the female to make the first overture. Why? Because they don't want to be "cold calling" and get rejected. When I was in high school, some of the prettiest girls went dateless because guys figured that if they called, they'd be rejected.

One foreseeable problem: if you make a friendly overture, and the guy thinks you're interested, and then you tell him you are not--then you could be labeled as a "tease" and the guys will then avoid you like the plague.

I'd suggest developing some girl friends. Guys also see it as a red flag if a women doesn't have any girlfriends. They think there's a reason if a woman has no gal pals.

I've just rescued an owl

Once, when going to get something on my lunch hour--I was in the Army at the time--I found an abandoned kitten on the side of the road. I planned to take the little kitten home, but I needed somewhere to keep it until I got off work. I took the little kitten to the humane society and said I'd be back in a few hours. When I got back, they had already euthanized the kitten! I wrote a letter to the editor of the local paper and ripped them a new anus. Surprisingly, a former head of the humane society replied that they euthanized animals right off the bat and without making the tiniest effort to find them a home.

Since then, I've had zero use for the local "humane societies" which I found to be nothing but Auschwitzes for animals.

Poor Marcus. A shrewish wife and a monster for a son!

Yes, I'm a girl.

I notice guys are saying it's not possible. What about online friendship? If a girl/woman sends a guy a message, does he automatically think she "wants" him?

Most likely, yes. At least he considers that to be a possibility.

People are constantly seeking validation. And affection. And love.
