What happened?
Was it struck by a vehicle?

I assume so Al

It didn't have any visible injuries, but it was definitely concussed

It started to come round gradually once I got it indoors.

That's a beautiful bird, and it was lucky to find you. I hope it gets better and can return to the wild.

They did joke when I walked into work with it that it had crashed when delivering my Hogwarts letter ;)

Yes very lucky.
It's position in the road would have guaranteed it getting run over

Myself and animals to tend to have mutual trust....

It's people I have issues with.

I gave them my email and they said they'd keep me informed.

If it's not injured, once it's strong they will release it where I found it.

It even had it's seatbelt on when I was taking it to the rescue place.

I'm not sure the owl and the cat would get along too well, and having 2 creatures with sharp claws in the house would lead to me running out of blood very quickly!

I think the owl would master the cat.

I received an email from the sanctuary I took the owl to

They've had to euthanize it

Unfortunately the damage to it's wing couldn't be fixed and it was suffering from extreme concussion

I'm absolutely gutted

So sorry Joe. In a perfect world you could have perhaps been able to receive 2nd or 3rd opinions. Just trust that you did absolutely what needed to be done. The end was not what you wanted but was the very best outcome for him. Live in peace with that fact.

Yes, my favorite bird:) Snowy Owl is popular here.
I generally have no fear of animals, but I would never have handled that bird without gloves. Impressed!

Once, when going to get something on my lunch hour--I was in the Army at the time--I found an abandoned kitten on the side of the road. I planned to take the little kitten home, but I needed somewhere to keep it until I got off work. I took the little kitten to the humane society and said I'd be back in a few hours. When I got back, they had already euthanized the kitten! I wrote a letter to the editor of the local paper and ripped them a new anus. Surprisingly, a former head of the humane society replied that they euthanized animals right off the bat and without making the tiniest effort to find them a home.

Since then, I've had zero use for the local "humane societies" which I found to be nothing but Auschwitzes for animals.
