Money / debt help.

My considered opinion os that God does not screw with us. People screw with us.

God takes bad things--caused by people--and works to make them work out in the end.

There's a funny thing about being in difficulty . . .

People whom you thought were your friends may desert you.

And then people you didn't really know were your friends go out of their way to help you.

Bankruptcy doesn't have the stigma it used to. When you declare bankruptcy, virtually all debts are erased, so there's really no longer a basis for blackmailing or extorting a person.

But contact the helpline in your country. You should also try "pro bono" legal services. Surely there is a legal aid society there that provides free legal advice and services. Quite often a letter from a lawyer is enough to stop some outfit from persecuting you.

Once you become someone that it costs them to mess with, they stop messing with you.

For experienced investors , can you lock up your capital in the market to prevent loss?

Well, it depends.

Ask them:
1. Is this a likely case of fraud?
2. What is the likelihood of recovering my assets?

It all depends, really, upon how much money is at stake. I worked on fraud cases as a private investigator. We had a forensic accountant with whom we worked. To do a real asset search costs about $20,000 Canadian. If you had something like $100,000 or more at stake, it was worth it.

The big problem in a fraud case is the fraudster getting wise that you are on to him, and he works like mad to hide his assets. In fact, he may have been hiding them all along.

You have to be able to locate those assets so you can get a court order to freeze them. That way the fraudster doesn't get away with your money.

The law firm wants a retainer up front because of the high costs associated with uncovering a potential fraudster's assets. Of course, that's just the retainer. Your legal costs could go up, up, up from there. Again, it depends upon how much money is at stake.

The other avenue to explore is the police--but you have to know that as soon as a fraudster is contacted by the police, he goes into stealth mode and hides everything he can. But that may be your only practical avenue of approach.

You can also try to find out if other clients have reported bad dealings with this company. You can do a lot of that on your own. You can find out about court cases and investigations through the Internet.

As for as this "investment firm," tell them flat out that you want to pull out. If they refuse, you know that you are dealing with fraudsters. Go to the police if that is your only financially practical option.

Pepper, don't even think about staying in the house with all of that heat!

Yes, you are right--when in hotels, I NEVER put my suitcase on the floor while opened, and I keep them closed when I'm not using them. I put shoes on the top shelf of the closet, and hang up all clothes.

I once stayed in an Extended Stay America, and the maid brought in a cart with some bedding in it that had fleas. I had about five or six fleas that had bitten me and were still hanging on when I discovered them. The Extended Stay America was unapologetic and did nothing but move me. I would come in from the airport to find myself locked out of my room because they had misfiled my payment. I'd just as soon stay under a bridge as one of those places ever again. The place was filled with drug addicts, and the police raided the place about once a week. They should change their name to "Extended Ghetto America."

You know, kid, what you have right now is a replay of Charles Dickens' England.

The time has come to consult a bankruptcy attorney.

And there is no shame in it. You have been bled dry over the years by high interest payments and immoral fees.

Get a bankruptcy judgment and wipe the slate clean. There are many billionaires in the US who have declared bankruptcy multiple times in the past.

You have labour laws in the UK that should protect you from losing your job over a bankruptcy.

See that attorney and shove those payments up their dorsal orifices!

I counsel patience.

It's always a risk that some advice may make things worse. We are not there to see how the advice is applied. And there are always variables.

But advice has been given and taken that has really helped people. I think the good far, far outweighs any negatives.

One thing is for certain--we are all on a journey, and it helps to make that journey with friends.

We are always the poorer when anyone leaves the group and strikes out on his or her own.

Please be a little patient--and help to bring about the great "Help.com revival"!

You know what really makes my blood boil? It's financial institutions that keep kicking someone when they're down! You have people trying to pay off debts, but they are hit with late payment fees, penalties, extra interest charges--you name it! And the lenders so often do not want to be reasonable!

The underlings you have dealt with don't want to go to their bosses and ask for a better deal. They just want to keep sticking it to you. I would write a letter to the CEO and tell him to either work with you--or you will go to the media with the sordid tale of his company's dealings!

I guarantee you that if you had the media there while picketing and handing out flyers, they would settle fast!
