Having a cat, an evolution of being a slave.

New cat owners:

How do I make my cat stop climbing the curtains?

How do I make my cat stay off the of the kitchen counters?

My cat just drank out of my water, so now I have to dump the glass, wash and disinfect it.

Closes the door when they use the bathroom to keep the cat out.

What kind of food should I feed my cat?
I don't believe in feeding "people food"!

How do I keep my cat from breaking my things?

Cat owners 10+ years:

Meh, those curtains look better on you than they did on the window anyway...

House guest:
Your cat just drank out of my water.
Cat owner- It's okay.
He doesn't drink much!

Those blinds aren't broken! That's my cat's window art!

Partner: Why are there three place settings at the dinner table???
One's for the cat.
It'll keep him from stealing our food while eating.

Cat owner 20+ years:
Cat hair is a condiment.

And also a clothing accessory.

The cat just broke another plate.
I'll make a mosaic with it and name it after him!

We don't have curtains because the cat thinks we should have a transparent relationship with the neighbors.

The cat steals food off of your fork and you shrug and continue to eat.
Worse things have happened.

You go from fine China to eating off of cheap Goodwill finds because your cat broke everything and you would prefer to spend your money on the destructive fur monster rather than replace all of the nice things you had.

If you have a cat and a dog, you get to be both slave and master.

Plus the dog is delighted to eat the hairballs. He considers them a treat.

I have similar issues with my two dogs. Only, the curtains aren't the issue. But I happen to like the mud-painted footprints all over my house. It gives the lino a nice rustic look.

Plus it's called FURniture for a reason.

Oh i do not envy husky fur! In spring and autumn whe i go to the park i always see big piles of fur where people brush them. They obvs dont want to do it in there house!

I have a working cocker spaniel who barely sheds and my lab doesnt shed as much as my other one did. Both working lines, maybe thats why....
