I don't have a specific quote handy but Job and Ecclesiastes have given me great comfort at certain times of my life.

This was always my favorite, not sure if it will bring you comfort or despair. I was very fascinated by it even at a young age when i first read it.

Ecclesiastes 1 New King James Version (NKJV)
The Vanity of Life
1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.

2 “Vanity[a] of vanities,” says the Preacher;
“Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.”

3 What profit has a man from all his labor
In which he [b]toils under the sun?
4 One generation passes away, and another generation comes;
But the earth abides forever.
5 The sun also rises, and the sun goes down,
And [c]hastens to the place where it arose.
6 The wind goes toward the south,
And turns around to the north;
The wind whirls about continually,
And comes again on its circuit.
7 All the rivers run into the sea,
Yet the sea is not full;
To the place from which the rivers come,
There they return again.
8 All things are [d]full of labor;
Man cannot express it.
The eye is not satisfied with seeing,
Nor the ear filled with hearing.

9 That which has been is what will be,
That which is done is what will be done,
And there is nothing new under the sun.
10 Is there anything of which it may be said,
“See, this is new”?
It has already been in ancient times before us.
11 There is no remembrance of former things,
Nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come
By those who will come after.

I personally dont think all is vanity, but pretty close. We live, we die and everything in between can be very hard most of the time and very beautiful sometimes. One should learn to appreciate the small things in life. No matter what you do, you will leave some form of fingerprint on other people good or bad. They themselves might pass it on to others. So your fingerprint does make the world different in a very small way but makes a difference none the less. In that sense your actions are not vanity.... let me stop here on a positive note ^_^

I think it's a good idea in certain frames of mind to take a step back and realize that it's all been done before and to snap out of taking whatever situation or problem that is causing such distress to us so seriously.

im no bible thumper.. but the verse i learned from pulp fiction really gets me pumped!

Ezekiel 25:17.

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.

I do not like that you beat me to this. No fair! This and the Lord’s Prayer are the only Christian things I know 😅
