Logo Design?

Hey all,

So, the paper I work at has died... Well, we're saying it's on hiatus, but it's dead.
As such, my partners and I are moving on to our next endeavour, and are in need of a logo.

Might there be anyone here interested in the possibility of designing one for us? And if there is how much would you charge for the service? (Ideally we would like a few to choose from.)

Wish I could help, but I’m totally useless at design. 😅

1. What is the business about?
2. What is the name of the business?
3. Do you have a "motto" for your business?

I'll help if I can. As for compensation, that would depend of the quality of the outcome - but, as a general rule of thumb, I'd give it to you pro-bono.

Good to see you starting a new chapter!
The new trend here in journalism has been community event papers. Promoting social events and awards. Not for profit. One man bands though and subsidized through advertising. A lot of work, but you meet good people:)

1) It is going to be a closed bid auction service in support of charities.
2) MJM Funding Inc.
3) Innovative & Inspiring Funding Solutions

Thank you 😄

That's basically what we were trying to do... though we were a for-profit company (we did talk about changing to not-for-profit). The problem I think was that we were a free paper, and because of that we missed out on a number of revenue streams.

Its the same here, free magazines promoting things in the area, competitions and lots and lots of adverts. Im hoping to start writing articles myself soon if they will allow me to.

As for a logo, I got mine on etsy for about £25, its not exclusive to me though but it is different to most and i have never seen anyone else with it.

Just so you are aware,
MJM Funding LLC
2012 Deborah Dr., Punta Gorda, FL 33950-8136
is a corporation that exists in the United States. Not sure what they do exactly. Can another name be given?

We're in Canada, and have no plans to expand into the states, or internationally. So it shouldn't be an issue. That said it wouldn't be hard to change the name as we have not yet registered the business. :)

Would the auction be for goods or services? I wouldn't mind purchasing something knowing the money would be used to support not for profits.

Goods. Paintings/photographs/artwork/sports paraphernalia/etc.
Unfortunately the only way to purchase it would be to come here to bid, as it is all physical auctions, and not online. :) At least for the time being.

I do apreciate the help :) but I don't think that these reflect the company. Though we are an auction company, we're not an auction company....

Basically how it all works is:

The process starts with our sales reps. They go to stores, arenas, hospitals, bars, etc. and convince them to support a charity from our list by becoming an Easel Host. Some of the charities include: London Health Sciences Centre, and the Cancer Society of Canada. They donate a 5’ x 5’ section of floor space to place an easel, and in return the donation to the charity is made in their name.
The easel has on it a piece of art, or merchandise that is up for auction, and changed every two weeks. The customers then place their bids, with a $200 minimum bid. Then once every 6 months the money is donated to the charities.

I like the art but not the font or color. I'm not good at editing, but I was thinking if the drawing was split horizontally and separated leaving a white space. Then have the full company name centered in the white space.

That's cool, but so complex! O.o
Logos are usually super simple- you're supposed to be able to glance at it and redraw with fairly good accuracy. 😄

Like here! Orange background, white "H". Given that- many many logos these days are just the letter of their company as a "company color" or with the background being that color and the text contrasted on top of it. Not sure if that's too simple for your company's taste, but just MJM on a backsplash? Maybe a horizontal line in the background to make it pop a little more?

Sure and if you feel the need to include more input, do so. We'll get it mastered.
