Update:

Itโ€™s good to hear from you! Thanks for the update. Our kitten is 6 months old and heโ€™s gotten so big. I remember what it was like when we first got him at 4 weeks. He was so tiny. I canโ€™t imagine having a bunch of kittens running around that size!

Are people inherently good or evil?

I raised two step children and three of my own. The crazy one is not mine, surprisingly.

How many days does he have to live? I'm not sure anyone knows the answer to that question. I did meet him at a bus stop yesterday to give him a check. He got kicked out of the half way house he was living at for smoking dope and needed more money... at least that was the story I got. His own mother won't answer the phone when he calls and told me I was an idiot when I left to go meet him. Just another day in paradise!

You sound like a good dad. You can lead a horse to water, but you canโ€™t make it drink. :(

Good. The way they are raised determines if they remain good or turn evil.

But what about siblings? They can be so different from one another even though they have the same upbringing.

No, I am planning protections from humam predators.

Adult ones though, not innocent children!

On that note, you know, little kids are innocent and naive but they donโ€™t understand empathy and are selfish (definitely survival instincts).

To expand on the lack of empathy- I used to be a teacherโ€™s assistant for kindergartens. I had a student, letโ€™s call him John, who used to hit other children and call them names. When I asked him why, he was very flustered and upset. He would say that it looked like the other child was going to hit him. I asked him how it would feel if someone hit him? John said it would make him feel sad. I asked him how he thought the other child felt? I definitely lost him there. Little kids have a difficult time empathizing.

Not saying itโ€™s Children of the Corn out there lol but definitely saying that kids arenโ€™t little cherub angels all of the time.

We could also get into a nurture vs nature debate but ehhhh that could be argued both ways so ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Nasty grandmother.

Some people are so frustrating. I hope that rant helped you get some of that stress/anger off your chest! Hopefully you wonโ€™t have to deal with that again until the next holiday!

I guess I'm going to let it go...

What a huge first step. Every time you feel yourself swaying back towards getting together with him, remind yourself of why youโ€™re NOT with him. Good job!
