Only under CBS were ads ever introduced. Still it made very little money for the sheer volume of bandwidth (at the time) it was making. For that sole reason the domain name along with the posts and data was sold.

I still remember those stupid, obnoxious and intrusive ads that would SLIDE IN from the bottom right of your screen and obscure whatever you were viewing. There was a setting you could do that would stop them. I did that and it worked for a while, but it seems that they came back. You would click on the little X box on them to make them go away, but you would then be transported to the advertiser's site.

To this day, whenever I see any pop-up ad to subscribe to a site, I delete it without even thinking about it.

Just a link that said, "In Memoriam," and list those members who have passed on, with the date of their passing, and maybe a word as to whether they served as a moderator, or major contributor, or whatever.

And, although I have no plans to "pass" any time soon, the idea of a shrine to me right now is actually appealing!

I don't think the financial risk--albeit small--is worth it to get junk, unusable data.

Ryan should just give us the data. And while it would be nice to go back to posts made seven or eight years ago, it probably won't be feasible. I also hate enriching people for work they didn't do. Ryan didn't make those posts--all of US did!

I would also like to propose an "In Memoriam" section for help-qa.com, especially for "Daft Puck," aka Alice Hale, who died two years ago because of stupid doctors in the State of Washington.

I don't really know. I didnt think it possible to have a 'little bit of ptsd'

Oh, I am sure that it is. Talk to anyone who has served in a war zone before. It changes you. You lose friends--and sometimes there is not enough left of them to bury. You see what was once a human being scattered over the landscape in chunks of flesh. You have people try to kill you. You hear bullets zinging by your head and you are knocked back by the force of explosions. Yes, you don't walk away from that unchanged

You lose all patience for other people's dawdling and stupidity. You see people attacked by a terrorist and hear them screaming and squealing, and you condemn them for not ganging up on the terrorist and stopping him. You see the status quo playing out in virtually every scenario, and you are angry because you didn't risk your life to maintain the status quo--you risked your life to make things better.

PTSD is a spectrum. You can land on the low end or the high end. Some people are rendered useless by their experiences, while others try to put those experiences behind them and move on.

But those experiences are always there--coming back to you in dreams and nightmares, and in flashes of memory about things you thought were long forgotten.

Nothing, however, is ever completely forgotten.

$500 for the data?

That would be what I called "unearned income" and "unjust enrichment."

Does anyone know any good dating sites for Christians or a way of finding any others online?

The dating site, plentyoffish.com, has hosted serial killers and fraudsters--probably the rest have, too, but the ones who used this web site have made the news frequently.

I stand by my assertion that only about 30% of people make good marriage partners. The rest are too selfish or too flawed in some way.

Beware of character flaws like addiction, laziness, uncontrollable tempers, disloyalty, dishonesty and deceitfulness.

You MIGHT find someone nice in a church. The only problem is that if it doesn't work out, you will hate seeing each other there--and someone will usually drop out of that church.

My computer broke.

Welcome back!

We got our daughter a new computer last week--she had dropped her other laptop, and it was on its last legs.

We got her an Acer, and it took NINE HOURS for it to download the latest Windows 10 update! Then I had to reinstall Microsoft Office, and that took another three hours! On her old laptop, a stupid Windows 10 update wiped out her Microsoft Office 2010!

And one real quirk--this computer kept reverting to a UK keyboard! I finally got into settings and added the Canadian version of English. It seems to be holding so far!

She also liked to take her laptop into the bathroom and listen to music while taking a shower. We told her to not do this with her new computer--all that moisture can corrode circuits.

My present computer has been with me to Africa four times, and is still holding up. It's a Dell. I had an ASUS before, and it had this thin aluminum skin that was always causing problems--a little pressure here or there and a million side menus would pop up! Stay away from aluminum-skinned laptops, folks!

You must realize, Anon ,that you are not someone who can heal people by simply touching them. I cannot do it. I do not know of anyone in this day and time who can do it.

That said, all you can do is rely upon your training and do what you can do.

If someone feels a seizure coming on, get them to lie on the floor and put a pillow or cushion under their head. If they are already having a seizure, put someone under their head so they won't bang their head against the floor. Never try to restrain someone who is having a seizure.

There are drugs now to control seizures. Do your patients have access to them?
