My computer broke.

I've been struggling, trying to keep up on my phone, but that's hard for me. Finally, I went out yesterday and bought a cheap ($200) laptop. I'm not sure what I think of it, but at least I can see what you're up to! I hope everybody is happy and healthy!

So glad to have you back.
I know what you mean about using a phone - it's the only thing I have to surf the web.
As for me...i'm happy as long as you're happy - or at very least not too sad.
Time to see what your new laptop can do. If you don't like the mouse pad you can use one from your old computer - it beats having to smear your fingers around on a touch pad.

Welcome back!

We got our daughter a new computer last week--she had dropped her other laptop, and it was on its last legs.

We got her an Acer, and it took NINE HOURS for it to download the latest Windows 10 update! Then I had to reinstall Microsoft Office, and that took another three hours! On her old laptop, a stupid Windows 10 update wiped out her Microsoft Office 2010!

And one real quirk--this computer kept reverting to a UK keyboard! I finally got into settings and added the Canadian version of English. It seems to be holding so far!

She also liked to take her laptop into the bathroom and listen to music while taking a shower. We told her to not do this with her new computer--all that moisture can corrode circuits.

My present computer has been with me to Africa four times, and is still holding up. It's a Dell. I had an ASUS before, and it had this thin aluminum skin that was always causing problems--a little pressure here or there and a million side menus would pop up! Stay away from aluminum-skinned laptops, folks!

I've got a Dell tablet & subnotebook, both business class. Both can be opened up and serviced with ease, which is an important feature to me.
