So we have to come to a decision… Helptogo is being shut down, and they have offered us to buy the domain, and more importantly the info (as helptogo does still have all the old posts from the

Keeping the old posts in an archive would be great. I agree with Big Al--if the original site had continued, those posts would have still existed on it.

The helptogo domain name had no real cachet. It would not help us here.

If the data can be retrieved for a nominal cost, I would say let's go for it. Otherwise, we just go on from here!

Advice for an educator-in-training?

And learn the signs of child abuse. My wife is a teacher, and her reporting of abuse has saved both children's and mothers' lives. Many times teachers are the only ones who can make a difference.

I haven’t gotten any cravings to smoke (Day 10 Nicotine free!) but I’ve been told I’m crankier, I have a gross cough that won’t go away, and I’m tired all the time.

After you smoke for a while, your brain neurons grow nicotine receptors, and those receptors are responsible for the cravings.

They will always be there--ready to tempt you again and again.

I finished Devilman Crybaby on Netflix, and now I'm doubting my existence as a human being and the significance of my life.

Being in the loop can be like "Groundhog Day," where you cannot seemingly get out of the loop.

Yes. Make sure you learn those techniques for de-escalating situations and maintaining control of a room full of unruly kids.

At the end of your life, what do you want people (family, friends, neighbors, and strangers never met) to line up and say to your face...

When we say "Change the world," a big, planet-sized diaper comes to mind.

Hubby needs to quit smoking. Really.

Kissing a smoker is like licking a dirty ashtray!

When Sherlock Left the High Road .

Further investigation has revealed that, at the time they had a fly-off-the-handle mod, "thehighroad.org" was undergoing an ownership dispute. The owner claims that his chief tech guy locked him out of the site; the chief tech guy claims that they were joint owners, and that he did it to stop monkey business.

I think I'm with the "first guy," but I don't have any proof. Why? Because it looks like the bad guys won in this case. There was apparently a mass exodus from the web site's forum.

There's almost always an underlying issue when things don't seem quite right!

Intrusive thoughts..

All "philosophers" should get themselves deliberately lost in the woods for a few days--to find out what's really important.

Or just watch their cats for a little while.

I remember this passage from Wordsworth's poem, "The Tables Turned":

“One impulse from a vernal wood
May teach you more of man,
Of moral evil and of good,
Than all the sages can.”

My English professor in my Romantic Poetry course, Dr. William J. Calvert, disputed that. I think Wordsworth went just a wee bit overboard, so I agree with my late professor.

The rest of the poem can be found here: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/45557/th...

The last verse in the poem is this:

"Enough of Science and of Art;
Close up those barren leaves;
Come forth, and bring with you a heart
That watches and receives."

I would not advocate closing up those "barren leaves" of Science and Art, but Wordsworth's advice to "Come forth, and bring with you a heart that watches and receives" is very good, I think.

And, I think that no philosophical system, and no school of psychology can be viable if it doesn't look at humankind "in situ," that is, look at us as we exist in nature.
