Talking with my mom makes me sad.

She's become so bitter and hate filled in her old age. She used to seem much happier.

Venting.

I feel you. My mom is so much the same. Bitter, mean and hateful. But she's always been that way.

It's hard to have a mom like that, because mom is who we are supposed to be able to go to for comfort; when we don't get that, it's really a downer. I'm sorry your mom is like that.

I would say that since it's a relatively new thing, maybe it could be hormonal or something. Have her get her thyroid checked

Is there anyone else in your family that has witnessed this change of behavior? If so it would be better if you all get together and talk with her. If she sees that you genuinely care about her health she will talk to her doctor. Is she on any medication? Increasing or decreasing the dosage could have effects on her mood. If she recently changed from brand name medication to generic, that could also cause these reactions. Seek medical advice in any case. The root cause may be something out of her control. Intervene from the basis of love and wanting only what is best for her.

She sounds like my wife, but yeah I guess older women do have a hard time. When women enter menopause they may experience some of these symptoms: Irregular periods.
*******Vaginal dryness.
Hot flashes.
Chills.
Night sweats.
Sleep problems.
Mood changes.
Weight gain and slowed metabolism.

My wife is blessed in that she experiences all of these symptoms. It's a blast laying in bed freezing to death with a sleeping bag on top because the air is set on 68 and there's a fan blowing on the bed, so it's not easy on me either. The part I don't understand is how she can be right beside me while I'm shivering and she only has a sheet on her and she's sweating so bad it's stuck to her.

Give your mom a break, and a wide berth, that's what I do. Well I don't give your mom a wide berth, I do it to the bitter hate filled elderly women I get to live with.

I remember when my mum was going through it, heating turned off and windows open, while the rest of us are sat indoors with coats on, freezing to death.

Old age happens to everybody if you stay alive long enough.

When you are young it's a crime to be young and you don't know what to do about it. When you are old it's a crime to be old and you know what to do but you can't do it because your body rebels against you.

Then your mind starts doing goofy things. A while back I got so bored and lonely that I bought a motorized gold pan and had ore mailed to me to pan at home.
