i find each pet has their own scent like people do....i realise that might sound weird and like i go round sniffing people and creatures but from having so many pets growing up i learnt to recognise they each had a slightly different smell. and people do too! theres a reason girls like pinching their boyfriends tops and jumpers...it smells like them and no one else.

so your cat smells like that specific cat in my opinion...it might be the litter tray that smells more generally like 'cat'.

Who cares what you think it smells like; what does the cat think he smells like?

And don't ask him what he thinks YOU smell like. I doubt you would appreciate the answer.

Well with dogs, poor quality food can result in the 'doggy' smell. So maybe its her food?

Yes nix.. I think that could be it. I feed her the same food everyday. Her food seems to stink. Im not sure why she likes it. The other possibility im thinking of is she maybe spraying her territory. Im not sure. I have already changed her kitty litter and she still has that katty smell.

After looking after a cat for about a month, in addition to my own - if your cat lives with you long enough, you will eventually not notice their smell. You sort of adopt the smell especially if they groom you and sit with you often. The cat we were taking care of had a horrid scent, but I assume the owners were used to it. You should try changing the food if it is an issue, you first mix the new food in with the old the first week, or however long it takes to empty the bag I suppose (so itโ€™s not wasted).
If you confine the cat to a small part of the place youโ€™re staying, the scent will seem more concentrated. We have Glade things plugged into the walls throughout our place, might be useful for you too.
Also, Iโ€™d say if youโ€™re bringing in new scents, maybe the cat is trying to counter it with their own - keep your โ€˜outsideโ€™ clothes out of reach from the cat, theyโ€™ll be used to your โ€˜insideโ€™ clothes.

Yes, anon....I agree with the food that she is eating...I had a Siamese chocolate point some time ago...She LOOOOVED to be showered and lathered in the tub...with a hand held shower head...And she smelled, well, like a perfumed Siamese...lol...They all just have their own unique scent to them I suppose.
Good luck with your Kitty!

I probably stink to my kitty. Lol. I wonder if essential9 oils would be safe to put in her fur
