Okay! Well, you certainly built that time machine you said you were working on. That song threw me back to the late 60's/early 70's - it was great to experience a modern day retro - I really liked it.
Some honesty here - I can hear the influences of Neil Young in your music style (with this particular song).
Here's what I envisioned:
A young southern man is sharing a train cart with an old hobo man. It's a cold night and the young man just finished telling the old hobo the story of his life.

I for one, like raw music. I think this moment has been given to you (by God) to understand your natural singing ability a bit better.

When I was a kid, my grandpa sent me a tape recorder for my birthday along with a package of cheap tapes to record on.

I popped in a cassette tape and hit the record button. I forgot what I said, but when I played it back, I was VERY disappointed in the way I sounded. I thought it was a joke - a mistake. That didn't sound like me at all.
Fact was, the way I sounded in my head wasn't real. So, it was just another tidbit of life that I was unhappy with.

Of course, having seen ****porn at a young age I always thought I would grow up to have a monster. After hitting 19 I realized I wasn't going to be a ****porn star!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

So, maybe you've been given some "real" time to adjust your cords.

And yes - for some reason, I liked the studio mix of many songs - especially when they were more complicated ings to master.

But the early rock (Airplane, Cream, etc) - I liked it raw.
