Name for a new puppy.

Is Tristan a weird name for a dog? (Belgian Mallinois)

I could also go for Nova but it sounds more female to me.

Anyone else have any suggestions for a champion in the making?

Tristan sounds cool. It means "tumult" and was a legendary medieval knight. Sounds like a good name for a high energy dog with a hint of nobility.

http://www.babynamewizard.com/baby-name/boy/tri...

"Origin of the name Tristan:
From the Old French Tristran, which is from the Gaelic Drystan, a name derived from drest (tumult, riot). The name was borne in medieval legend by a knight who was sent to Israel by King Mark of Cornwall to bring Isolde back to be the king's bride. On the return trip, Tristan and Isolde accidentally drank a love potion intended for the king and fell in love. Tristan left to fight for King Howel of Brittany and, seriously wounded in battle, sent for Isolde. She arrived too late and died from grief next to Tristan's deathbed. The tale was the subject of many popular tragedies during the Middle Ages."

I have a yellow Labrador Retriever named Blondie, before that I had a black Lab named Midnight, so it's all about the color to me. My dad named his pets after the people he bought them from... Sam, Joe, Max,and one from an adoption place that he named Gypsy.

But yeah Tristan is a weird name for a dog. How about Fido? Here's a list of the most popular dog names, but Bella and Bailey are the top two so I'm not exactly in love with it...

I had a yellow lab called Monty, and have a black lab called George. I didnt get to choose the names, my parents choose Monty when i was a kid and George was already my now dogs name so it stuck, plus his kennel name is Master Georgie Boy!

I dont want a popular name, when im dog training i will hear them all day! i actually almost adopted a black lab named Brian, that was weird! The family before me got him first other wise i would have got him and changed his name.

grr, girls seem easier to name than boys....

i kinda liked Cairo too. too much money heist for me otherwise it could be Rio

Is it Tristan? Here Tristan, come here boy, good boy Tristan... ha ha. Whatever works for you. The Mexican called Clint Eastwood Blondie in "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly". That's really why I named her that. I call my dogs with that same whistle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWYFasRbf-Y
