I just discovered my wisdom teeth have come in.

In general I dont have much mouth pain. I've had a root canal and not really felt pain from it which is why it went unnoticed.

So I wouldn't know if my wisdom teeth were causing problems but dont wanna go to the dentist unless I have too as my dental insurance isnt the greatest.

Are wisdom teeth typically something that need to be removed or is it unnecessary?

One of mine recently came in too. Didn't hurt at all, but it did push another one a little crooked. I'm in my 40s.

I'm in my 40's. My wisdom teeth came in during my late teens. I've never had them removed and they've never caused probs.

My 15 and 17 year olds had theirs removed in March.

17 yo was because they were coming in at a 45 degree angle.

15 yo had hers removed in a more "surgical" way, I guess...they were THERE but not erupted. Hers were not going to fit and she's getting braces in July, and it seems to be the oponion of ortho to have them out before braces vs during or after

Not everyone has problems with them or have to have them removed

I personally wouldn't go to the dentist unless it was causing severe pain.

I had mine removed 2yrs ago. When I was younger I used to wear braces and hadn't removed my wisdom teeth. Big mistake. When they started coming in, there was not enough space and they pushed my front teeth and I had to wear invisalign. I guess depends on your mouth structure. A visit to the doctor could help you decide what to do with them.

I had my first one removed last year sometime. Late bloomer, I suppose. But it was growing sideways so it would have wreaked havoc on my teeth. Luckily we caught it early and had it surgically removed.

It's worth checking. Wisdom teeth can cause a lot of structural damage around your other teeth if left unchecked. Especially if you have a big pain tolerance, much of that damage can go by unnoticed until it's too late to fix it easily.
