Short for Southern Comfort. That was my user name way back in help's history. Several old time members shortened it to Soco and I liked it.

:) Thank you! They can speak English in Wales, but the first language is Welsh. Kids learn Welsh as well as English at school, and all signs are first in Welsh and then in English. If you speak to authorities, you can choose which language you want to talk to them in.

They revert to Welsh when someone English comes by.

You see it as soon as you walk into a pub and they hear you speak in English, suddenly they all speak Welsh

Really? :D I haven't been to a Welsh pub yet, but today I am soooo tempted! Want some alcohol and would have to drive like 25 minutes to get it... (what a drama it's been in the last two days, NOOOOO...!)

But @BuckingFastard(JN)) I am almost all unpacked! When are we climbing those Welsh hills? :) It's been really windy and rainy here for a few days though..

You've got that to look forward to then.
Even in a shop, you go in and seem English, they're suddenly all only speaking Welsh.

I'm not sure honestly.
I'm going through a meltdown if I'm honest.
I'm signed off work on sick, may be back there on the 30th when my sick note expires.

I was supposed to be taking part in a really huge competition this week that I'd been training for for near 3 yrs and I had to pull out.
I'm mainly just getting drunk and locking myself away.
Barely left my house while I've been off...
I seem to be incapable of following through with anything now

@BuckingFastard(JN)) Oh, noooo ! :( I'm so sorry you had to pull out of that competition; whoa 3 years training waisted.. :((((

Well, the cliche is that all bad is good for something. Hope you will find that good soon! I'm good at having meldowns and locking myself away, too. But instead of drinking I overeat, and i can barely stand on my legs because my ankles swell so much from overeating..so, almost like drinking! ;)

But, is there anything we can do to make you feel better? <3

For 3 years that comp has been all I've had to focus on.
It was a tiny distraction from the pain of my marriage ending.

I've been fitting overeating round the drinking, I doubt my work clothes will fit when I go back.

I've let the UK team down and messed up my only chance of doing something huge with my life.

I've talked about nothing but this comp at work for ages now, everyone knows about it.
When I get back they'll all be asking about it.

:( You didn't let them down; you didn't do it on purpose! It is very sad and unfortunate that you are not well to join the competition, but I am absolutely certain you did all you could to be there!

I hope your coworkers are supportive!

I am sorry about your marriage ending :_( And I understand that focusing on the competition would help you cope with the pain of it.. I've had quite a lot of counselling in my life, and had to learn new copying strategies and how to handle feelings (not only pain, but especially anger) in a more constructive way. Some things I have mastered well, with some I still have a long way to go..

For me a few things were really important to learn - how to grieve; as I always pretended for myself that it didn't matter how that person hurt me in this way, or destroyed that..

Then I had to learn to forgive.. myself, others, and 'God' (God can't do wrong really, but for us to accept that all He allows to happen is good for us, is not that easy).

And in between a lot about personal boundaries and how to deal with toxic people.

I keep clothes in 3-4 different clothes sizes which is annoying, but at least it removes the anxiety from me putting on weight..

So, hope you will feel better soon! I am certain a better opportunity will come for you to shine! And that darkness really does not last forever, although sometimes it does drag like forever.. But it DOES get better! Believe.. xx
