Sherlock's predictions for the future .

. .

It's hard to imagine what the future looks like--thirty years ago, even Bill Gates couldn't imagine the Internet. In this post, I'm going to list some predictions for the future. Please join in with what you think the future is going to look like. Here's my predictions:

1. Humans will eventually run up against the limits of their intelligence. They will make the next leaps and bounds via artificial intelligence.
2. Robots will be developed that can do almost anything. Some people will choose robots to be their intimate companions--even marrying them.
3. We will encounter alien intelligences within the next 200 years. Meeting them will change the course of human history. It may change it for the worse, especially if those aliens believe we'd make good slaves--or food.
4. We will eventually be able to build faster-than-light spacecraft, which may get past the light barrier by accessing now-hidden dimensions.
5. Our brains will one day be aided by surgically implanted computers.
6. True quantum computing will be developed, which will open new epochs of scientific research--and pave the way for self-aware, artificial intelligence.
7. We will save the earth from a collision with an asteroid in the future.
8. Using presently unknown science and technology, we will actually be able to master time travel (travelers from the future may already be among us).
9. We will have one planetary government--which is the only way we can keep from destroying the planet. Dysfunctional cultures and religions will be altered to stop planet-destroying behaviors.
10. The judicial system, which is completely medieval, will be overhauled to turn criminals into productive citizens.
11. Drug addiction will be cured. Any addicts will be snatched up, placed in mandatory rehabilitation programs, and not let out until they are functional again.
12. The aging process will be slowed, then eventually stopped, then eventually reversed. Lifespans will be measured in centuries--and eventually millennia.
13. Overpopulating the planet will be stopped, with an eventual reduction of 60% of the population we now have.
14. Inimical species, such as mosquitoes, fleas, ticks and others will be wiped off the face of the earth, along with disease causing viruses and bacteria.
15. We will have a form of teleportation; going places in a vehicle will become an outmoded concept, at least on the planetary surface.
16. We will colonize the solar system.
17. We will colonize other solar systems, so that when our sun destroys the earth, we will be elsewhere--watching it.
18. We will become involved in interstellar wars.
19. Animals will be genetically modified to have greater intelligence--and to talk.
20. Dinosaurs will be brought back--there will be real "Jurassic Parks."

So--what are YOUR predictions?

Outside of "robots" and robot partners, I think the majority of mankind will become "androids", to at least some degree. Majority of our obsolete bodily functions will be replaced by more efficient "artificial" parts. Specifically joints, but also down to full limbs for those with birth defects or major injuries.

And I'm betting that birth defects will be eliminated, and a way to regrow limbs and organs will be found!

Ok - 1 & 2 are already here

3 I would lessen the time line on

5 our brains can already be altered by microchips so this isn't a far fetch

7 Bruce Willis did that in the 90s already

9 is already on it's way and starting, and it's a damned dangerous concept and thought

10 I'm gonna answer in a fully different box as it's too complex, may even make a post myself dedicated to that one.

12 not in favour of that one.
Wouldn't mind looking 20 for the rest of my life, but wouldn't want to live for that long.

13 is going to be included in my answer about 10 as I have a banging solution to those.

14 as long as that includes spiders, bring it on.

16 I'm not sure if we find there is real lift on multiple other planets that we will be the most intelligent

18 that's a given since we go to war with everyone

19 how do you know animals can't already do this but chose not to... Since they read us so well it's odd to think they can't communicate

20 awesome.

1. We met the peak of our technology in the early 90's. The only thing there is, is integrated technology ("Swiss Army Knife, if you know what I mean).
2, 5, 6, & 12. Category: Transhumanism. The genetic and biological (even mechanical) manipulation of the natural human, continously erased from the Primary Image.
3. The course of human history has already changed by the rewriting and reteaching of it in tax-paid schools of indoctrination. There are no aliens, only intelligent forces of evil. There are no humans in power.
4, 15, 16, & 17. The dominion of space.... We aren't going anywhere. Period.
7. Non-sequater.
8. Time travel: You can't rewind the dead or the once inhabited body of a soul.
9. A one world system. We already have that. The solutions of earth's problems seems to be the continued culling of man.
10. The judicial system is a corporate system that annexes law-abiding, productive citizens, into criminality every day.
11. Drug addiction is a behavior, not a disease....but once that problem is 'cured', addiction in general and its reforms will become a summary judgement.... The biggest addictions now are cell phones.
12 & 13. Called a super race, still containing servile positions which suit the elite. It may be over-populated where you live but it does not account for the majority of earth.
14. No. I expect the opposite.
18. We are already involved in an interstellar war.
19. Talking animals? That happened once, a long time ago. Someone didn't like it, and destroyed the earth for that very reason.
20. Bringing back the dinosaur would be like bringing back the bi-plane. There are far more interesting nightmares to create. Just hang in there. They're on their way.

Remember that yesterday's science fiction, e.g., Jules Verne's Nautilus, is today's reality.

And remember when some "scientist" said that mankind could not survive traveling over 60 miles per hour?

There are no absolutes in the universe. Today's fact is tomorrows fiction. Todays science fiction is tomorrows fact
