Ah, Music, I am sorry that you are disappointed in your new job. However . . .

You are now in a position to blaze new marketing trails. You can do things that have never been done before.

For starters--does the shelter have a Facebook page? Do you show the pets available for adoption on Facebook or on your shelter's web page? Do you solicit for donations? Do you let schools and police departments know that your shelter offers opportunities for volunteering? Do you go to local schools and do presentations about the animals and need for adoptions? Have you invited local media to come to the shelter and see the animals that need to be adopted?

There's a universe of things you can do! And those little animals are depending on YOU!

Secondly--women who appear weak and vulnerable attract the kind of males who want "only one thing." Project strength, self-reliance and determination. Stay away from people in the organization in which you work--such relationships almost always end badly. Smile confidently, act with conviction, and accept no BS from anyone. Not from ANYone!

They won’t let me make any changes or take initiative bc they’re philosophy is if it’s not broke don’t fix it. All I do is make mediocre videos with any free software I can find. It’s as if they hired me but don’t want my opinions. They won’t give me access to any social media partly because they don’t even know their own passwords.

Come up with a written marketing plan, and submit it to the leader of the outfit. Show plans for local media coverage, social media, community outreach, etc. Tell the leader you just want the go-ahead to implement it. Explain how each proposal would benefit the organization. Show them how the status quo will leave them under-resourced. Help them set goals for adoptions and donations.

Go for it!

One question a day...

I like to read or work on the sequel to my first novel.

Question of the day:

The truth is that people very rarely change--that's why people who do change are often the subjects of novels and movies. In real life, it almost never happens.

People who drink keep on drinking. Smokers keep on smoking. Wife beaters keep beating their wives. Gamblers keep on gambling. Cheaters keep on cheating. Spenders keep on spending.

People CAN change--but most simply don't.

I tried at life and I failed.

Of course you failed. We all do. The only people who do not fail are those who never attempt anything.

What is it that you want to do--and more importantly, who is it that you want to be? That's the starting point!

I have a date this Friday and I just don’t know.

The movie date guy just wanted to get you into the sack. Not a gentleman at all--just a loser who just lost!

Docteur Ralph just gave us what could be a case study in an Harvard MBA program. Yes, competence should trump favoritism in organizations, but most of the time it doesn't. The daughter will eventually lose her business and all of those "likeable" screwups she hired will have abandoned her.

Every time I stand up life seems to shove me back down.

Go back home and let your sister worry about the rent. She made her bed--now let her sleep in it!
