Some was .... but so many was not.

If you look at all the posts that appears you will find 90 percent ate not asking for help of any kind.... just talk.

Then you get one that is from someone looking for advise and it that person gets it it makes the site worth it.

The old site changed and saved lives and that makes it so sad it did not get the continuing support from it's owners.

I know one past moderator that got into a conversation with a suicidal user and get phone call of a ambulance saved that person's life.

Many people came to the site simply looking for friendship.

Never underestimate how much if a change to a person you can make simply by giving them some friendship.

It has saved lives as well as giving a person the self confidence to deal with what many consider a trivel issue.

I'm sure a lot of the posts were made up. I kind of hope so actually, I would hate to think that there was just a constant supply of people that were really ready to kill themselves. Then again I'm sure there are, but how many of them get on a computer and type in "help"?

By the way that's something I want to address. This site is REALLY hard to find, the old one wasn't. Even if you type in HelpQA it comes up with something else. I think a name change is in order maybe with a space between the Help and the other letters so that someone who does just type in "help" might accidentally end up here. That's what it's all about I think. That's how I found the place and it has helped me a lot.

Help me with:

I need help.

It will get easier Dr. It has more to do with other web pages that link to us. That increases our s.e.o. (search engine optimization).

I agree doctor ralph. I felt the same. I remember seeing these desperate posts looking for help. Then they would abandon the post they just wrote. Suspicious. Yes.

Posts from 10 years ago. Seems like water over the bridge at this point. Why are we digging up all this old hurtful garbage, including Me/whogivesacrap/ra? We should, at least in my opinion, be talking about getting more visibility to this site to our friends and neighbors that have never heard of us. If strangers come and see us arguing and bickering with one another over stuff that happened 7,8,10 years ago they are not going to want to join us.

Mine weren’t. I was extremely depressed and I have a history of anxiety which I have only just gotten under control with anxiety medication (finally). Sometimes I would write a post anonymously and not reply, but keep looking at the responses from others which made me feel better. I was too overwhelmed to respond.

So maybe people thought it was “suspicious” but I can’t really control what others think or how they perceive things. The only person who knows the true intentions of the poster is OP him/herself. You just have to take everyone’s problems at face value and assume that they are being truthful. Better for us to be wrong in assuming the worst than assuming they’re lying and be wrong about that!

This should be a must read for all those here now or come later asking for our best efforts. THANK YOU ARAZ!

The way that I look at suicide posts, even if I suspect that they are fake, I will continue to help/support that person. Because what if my suspicions are wrong, and because I didn't help them, that person is no longer here.

Speaking from experience, when you are in that dark place, you don't think/act in a normal way. So even if someone is faking the suicide post, then there is a reason for it. And if I can help at all, then it was a good day.

I watched a documentary years ago on young people killing themselves. One individual showed themselves do it on webcam online with viewers watching from different parts of the globe but refused to contact any emergency team or anyone. They left him there to die. The parents were upset no one had done anything.

Some may have thought that there was nothing they could do. Similar to those that see a bad car accident, stop and get out only to stare. Sad but true.
