Why?

It sounds manipulative. What reason does she give?

She doesnโ€™t want to financially support me while I chase my dream.

She is thinking short term. I am thinking long term, establishing myself and building my career.

If you are an able bodied and minded adult, you need to be able and willing to financially support yourself. If your mum is elderly or disabled, you should support her too.

Never give up your dream for others, but don't expect to be treated like a baby your whole life.

You need to sort your own life and not rely on mum.

If she is threatening suicide seriously I very much doubt it's cos of your dreams.

If she's saying this as blackmail she's clearly toxic and you need to be away from her

I have dreams too but I know that if I want to chase them first I need a stable life and income, I suggest you do it in your spare time while working, your mother cannot financially support you your whole life...

My parents started charging me rent when I was 18. I moved out when I was 19.. if you are over 17 years old your mother doesn't have to support you, especially while you go chase long term dreams. The whole suicide thing sounds kind of crazy but apparently she doesn't know how to deal with you. Tell her to call me I'll give her a few pointers on how to not support adult children and feel good about it.

Help me with:

I need help.

It is good to have a dream, but spending all your time chasing a dream at the expense of growing up is a form of avoidance.

To establish yourself and build a career you first need to work some different jobs, learn to manage your own money, bills, discipline of a schedule, deal with people and learn to fail. You will need these skills anyway if you ever want to make your dream reality. Try all kinds of jobs and fail at them - you will learn more from that than living in a bubble. Good luck!

I left just before I turned 16 so never had to pay them rent, just full rent on the shithole bedside I moved into
