I didn't realize how important rest days were...

So I've had to take the past two days off of exercising, and it turns out that I can do more now than what I was doing before taking the break.

I started out doing 16 sit ups, which slowly started going up to 18, then it started going back down again. After two days rest I just did 23 sit ups.

It's all about working and resting. I know some guys that have been lifting all their lives and you work your muscles one day and rest them two day... unless you have some really good steroids then you don't have to rest at all. The secret is to work different muscle groups on different days so that you can spend 4 hours every day in the gym. Yeah right, I said I know some guys... that's a whole lot of work to look good naked. And plus I look better than most people naked without working out so to heck with all that noise.

If you really get serious then you have to carbo load before you work out too. I don't think you're there yet Padre.

And honestly I have been working on my 57 year old body lately too... it was about time. I was up to 235 so I got on some really good dope errrr I mean I went on a crash diet and got down to 175. People started asking me if I had cancer so I got off the dru..errrr diet and started lifting weights and got back to about 190. I have to take two days off after working out and I am sore as crap the first day. No pain no gain.

Help me with:

I would be bouncing around at that weight. My scales goes up to 340 and iยดve only seen "ERROR" in the display the last year.

I have a friend who has a friend who knows somebody that can hook a brother up. I lost 60 pounds so quick the guy I subcontract from took me back in his office and shook his head and said he wished I was an employee so he could drug test me. Said I needed to quit coming in every morning mumbling gibberish and put on some weight. It helped that my wife's mom was in three different hospitals trying to die without succeeding and old Ralphie boy was left to his own devices for 6 or 8 months. I don't do well without supervision.

Good job, Padre :)I have found that eating more protein helps me to not be so sore after a workout.

Look up your macros score and then pay attention to what you eat, according to your goals......

Padre....make some time watch this video. It will help determine the diet plan you make for yourself. People scoff at things like this until they're lying in a hospital bed awaiting their end.

You cut a leg off right? thats how you lost so much weight.

I hate my scales, i ignore them and refuse to get on them any longer. everytime i get on them the number goes up.... ignorance is bliss.

Really for whatever reason I just quit eating, that's the secret. When you've been married for over 30 years and your wife has always prepared all your meals and suddenly she is camped out at hospitals and staying at her mom's place for almost a year there's just no meals. I needed to lose weight and nobody was cooking so I just kind of went on a 6-8 month fast. You could do that. Get serious about it. Really I was wearing size 38 waist pants and now I am wearing 33's and I feel a lot better. Heck I can jump off a ladder again and not fall forward on my fat ***ass. I actually have control of my body, it's like being a little kid again.

They couldn't even find anything wrong with her. Well besides the fact that she's 5'2" and weighs over 300 lbs and has already had one leg amputated and the other is rotting away. The doctors decided she was just seeking attention after the third hospital couldn't find anything wrong either. Hell we were making funeral arrangements. I'm always serious, kind of scary isn't it?

It took me a good week to recover from Africa this last time. There was the jet lag, of course, but I had also been eating like a Buddhist monk. Could not eat meat due to it being prepared in unsanitary conditions. Lost about 10 pounds! And then there's the very tiring airport routine and being stuffed into a tiny seat for up to 9 hours at a time. And Charles de Gaulle airport is a zoo!

You do need rest days, but also you should do different things each day, then even though you are still working out most days, some areas of the body are getting a rest.
