After my flu I was hoping to be helping others more, but it looks like I'm the one in need of help yet again.

I'm having such a hard time with my depression lately. It is a struggle to get out of bed in the morning, and even continuing with my normal coping mechanisms is tiring.

I have no interest in playing games, reading, or watching movies, etc. All things that I used to find enjoyment in, and used to cope/distract from my depression.

There is just so much going on that I have no control over.... and normally that isn't a big deal for me... If I have no control over it, I typically don't worry about it...

I just don't know what to do.... I don't know that I want to do anything.

You should not self-diagnose this or take medications to try to regulate this.
Go visit your doctor. That is paramount.
Seek knowledge specific to your symptoms.
Submit to tests. This should include all blood tests. This may just be a chemical imbalance.
Take time to write out all your current obligations and grade yourself as to how successful you are being in those obligations. Your God, marriage and wife should be primary. Anything that takes away from that, be it time or energy, must be stopped.

i used to get depressed alot all the time in fact and it was mostly the cause of my alcoholism among other things, after i started getting into juicing every day and teaching myself about nutrition, the depression went away, or about 95% of it. it was afterwards that i learned that nutrition has a lot to do with depression, hormonal imbalances and such.

and that in my juicing everyday i was inadvertently balancing those same hormones. just yesterday i mixed up a 3 day supply of juice ready to go, lets see, ingredients, lettuce, collards, kale, golden beets, broccoli, fennel, passion fruit, apples, celery, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, spinach, swiss chard, arugula, dandelion, anise.

But most of all...watch your spiritual health. A lot of depression also stems from separation (or distancing) from God. Keep your nose in the Word.

Jonathon what you really need to do is ask yourself why you keep feeling this way.
Most of us here know you've hit rock bottom on more than one occasion.
I know you don't have it easy either.
Things at home must take its toll.
You can always pm message me anytime.*hugs you*

Padre. In all due respects. Are you just venting or would you actually use some techniques that work?

I learned to save my energy and only help people who would take into account what the helper is suggesting. Past experience has taught me not to give out sound advice to someone with deaf ears.

nobody remembers how hard it was 200 yrs ago. food and warmth was scarce and you had to earn your keep.

Every time I really look at this world, am in awe of its beauty. All the beautiful colors and shapes that makes this world, its breathtaking. So many lives out there, the beautiful humans, animals, insects... with all their shapes and color... Makes me feel so small and yet am part of all it...

There is much beauty in this world, if one really wants to look. Looking at the beautiful world, calms my world.

Aw Padre...It hurts to see such a great guy going through all of these troubles...
The only advice that I have is one that I have had to teach myself lately...
......Hang in there, Padre......This too shall pass.

I try to go to a comedy site every single morning before I do anything else.
Start the day with a nice giggle or two.

I'm wishing you all the best...Hugs....PEACE.....LOVE.....Cara

January and February are the worst months for me. It is cold and the days are short. We get less sunlight / less vitamin D. It is harder to get motivated to exercise. One thing that really helped me is taking St. Johns Wort. Studies have shown it to be as effect as other antidepressants with fewer side effects. Do not use if you are on other medications. Consult your doctor. https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements-st...

Try to get in a routine and string together a few days where you do something healthy for yourself. Eat something healthy, get outside for a walk, avoid self-destructive behaviors. If you can get some positive momentum going for a few days in a row, sometimes it can build into a week and then a month and then a few months from now you will look back and see that you are doing quite a bit better.

It has been very very chilly and raining and dreary here for the past 5 days.
It can really get to you after a bit.

One of my close friends won a new career with a real crappy boss and believed he could change the world. He's sick now and at home. Some of the tasks you take on my friend are similar. I met with a legendary CBC friend yesterday and discussed current affairs with the CBC. He's retiring as the issues are bigger then he can help with. His direction is to help as a mentor and free lance journalist when "allowed". He is reconstructing his life to meet his needs and ability. I do this often. You too need to revisit this after a bit of a break. It being winter may be a challenge because it costs more to get away or play. I find that measuring up the the bar isn't the problem, it's lowering our expectations to the understanding that some people we serve want too much and will take it if you let them. Step up and say "No thank you".

Charity starts at home:)

I'm so sorry this has happened. I don't know what to tell you, because I fall into pretty deep depressions from time to time, too; and it seems like there's no way out. When it happens, I do see my doc and get on some meds. I also do as Big Al says and get more into prayer and fellowship as much as I am able.

I hope you feel better soon

You would think depression is easy to diagnose but it is not. That should come from a qualified medical professional after exhausting all other possibilities.

My personal opinion is you are spreading yourself too thin with keeping 3 employers happy.

YOu are under taking far to much, Jonathon.
You need to concentrate on YOU. Sounds like you could do with a little break and just concentrate on getting back to yourself.
I wish I could help you more. I know what deep seated depression feels like,it's no easy ride.

Maybe write a 911 list and start with a priority order.
Health, rest and next.
